Step 1: Export a Still Frame from CapCut
Start by exporting a still frame of your video directly from CapCut.
Select a frame that best represents the lighting and overall tone of your video. To do this, navigate to the 'Adjustment' toolbar in CapCut, click the three dots icon, and then select 'Export still frame'. Name your file appropriately and save it in a convenient location. Exporting a still frame allows you to create a customized background that matches the aesthetic and lighting of your original video, making it easier to achieve a seamless integration. Ensure the resolution and format of the exported frame are high to maintain quality during background creation.
Step 2: Generate Your Background with Adobe Firefly
Next, use Adobe Firefly to generate a new background. Adobe Firefly is a powerful AI Tool that allows you to create custom backgrounds using simple text prompts.
- Go to the Adobe Firefly website and navigate to the 'Generative Fill' section. Upload the still frame you exported from CapCut.
- Use the brush tool to remove the existing background from the frame, focusing on areas where you want the new background to appear.
- Enter a text Prompt that describes the background you want. For example, “cozy YouTube background containing a lamp, a plant, and a bookshelf make it aesthetically pleasing, and natural”.
- Firefly will generate several background options based on your prompt. Choose the one that best fits your vision or iterate by modifying your prompt.
- Once satisfied, download the new image. Consider using Firefly's editing features to further refine the background by adjusting the lighting and blending options to achieve a more natural integration.
Step 3: Integrating the New Background in CapCut
Now, re-import the image from Firefly into CapCut and position it correctly. In this phase, use the masking tool to integrate the background so that only you are visible, and not any part of the original video.
- In CapCut, import the generated background image.
- Add it to the timeline, ensuring it's positioned beneath your primary video clip.
- Select your video clip, then go to the ‘Basic’ toolbar and choose the “Mask” feature. A rectangle mask is the first and most used way to cut out your character and put yourself in the video with a different background. For advanced masking, you can use the Pencil tool, which requires a CapCut Pro subscription.
- Adjust the mask to fit around your subject, refine the edges to ensure a smooth and natural Blend. It’s best to use different shapes for the various masks you create. You can also adjust your features and add feather edges to make the scene look more natural.
Step 4: Finalizing the Illusion
The final stage involves fine-tuning your edits to enhance the realism of the fake background. Take time to adjust the blending and transparency settings in CapCut, and ensure the background and subject are well-balanced.
It will be helpful to look for areas where the transition seems unnatural and make adjustments accordingly. The masking edges, color, and background should all match up and make it appear as if the clip was shot in the new environment. With careful attention to these details, you can produce a fake background that’s visually appealing and believable, creating a polished look for your videos.
