Locating and Applying the Plugin

First, you’ll need to locate the Mask Prompter plugin effect in After Effects.

Go to the Effects & Presets panel and search for "mask". The Mask Prompter by Binance Plugins will appear. To apply the effect, drag and drop it onto your video clip in the timeline panel.

Adding Text Input

To begin targeting elements within your video, you need to add text input.

In the Effect Controls panel, find the Text Prompts section and click the Add Text Input button. This will create a text Prompt layer in your timeline.

Naming Text Input

After a mask is created by After Effects with the Text Input, the mask will need to be named, and the subject also has to be named within the plugin control panel.

After Effects is prefilled with an unusual name, Barbie World, that must be overwritten for Mask Prompter to recognize what the mask should select. For those not expecting it, the text is edited at the Masks panel at the bottom of the screen, then selecting the text and pressing “enter.” After the name of the mask is set within the Masks panel, the Text Prompt Layer must be set in the effects control panel.

Targeting an Element

With the plugin applied and your text input set, you can now specify the element you want to target. Type in the name of the element you wish to track.

For instance, you can type "eagle" in the mask effect control panel and you must also select "eagle" in the corresponding "text prompt layer" to select the bird in the video. This allows Mask Prompter to target and select that object.

Adjusting Transparency

Mask Prompter offers several output modes for transparency. Locate the Output section and toggle between Overlay, Matte, and On Transparent. Setting this to On Transparent removes the background.

You can also enhance the selected object by engaging High Quality or HQ options for the matte refinement.

Refining Your Selection

Once you’ve selected an element, you can further refine your selection. Mask Prompter 2 offers several advanced techniques.
