Introduction

In this article, we are going to review a custom-built PC using the Phenom CPU, with specific emphasis on its performance when running various games. The PC components include, but are not limited to, the CPU, memory, HDD, graphics card, and power supply. We will also provide insights into the game testing results, which include popular titles such as CS: GO, Fortnite, PUBG, GTA 5, and Battlefield 1.

PC Components Review

CPU and Motherboard

The PC utilizes an AMD Phenom X4 960 CPU, which boasts 4 cores and 3.4 GHz clock speed. The motherboard, an MSI 890FXA-GD65, supports CPU overclocking and the ability to unlock cores for certain AMD CPUs.

Memory and HDD

We tested three models of DDR3 memory, 2 from Kingston and 1 from another manufacturer, in addition to a basic Toshiba HDD with a 500GB capacity and SATA interface.

Graphics Card

The PC is equipped with an Essos game version of the R9 380 graphics card, featuring 2GB of VRAM.

Power Supply

The power supply comes from Corsair, specifically the VS 450 model, boasting 450 watts of power.

Game Testing

CS: GO Performance

Running CS: GO at maximum settings and 1080p resolution, the PC achieved an impressive 100 FPS on average. Despite the game's age and poor optimization, the results were noteworthy.

Fortnite Performance

With settings at medium and 1080p resolution, the PC managed to produce 100 FPS indoors and 65-70 FPS while moving through environments, experiencing occasional micro freezes.

PUBG Performance

In PUBG, the PC delivered an average of 55-60 FPS at medium settings and 1080p resolution, despite inconsistent frame times and graphical anomalies.

GTA 5 Performance

At high settings and 1080p resolution, the PC achieved approximately 40-45 FPS, showcasing smooth gameplay with minor freezes in high-speed movements.

Battlefield 1 Performance

With high settings and 1080p resolution, the PC experienced FPS ranging from 45 to 50, alongside intermittent freezes and drops. Nevertheless, stable 60 FPS could be achieved after optimizations.

Conclusion

Overall, the PC demonstrated solid performance across various games, requiring occasional settings adjustments for optimal gameplay. Despite needing potential upgrades, particularly the CPU, it showcased promise in running most modern titles.

Upgrades and Optimizations

Future upgrades can involve enhancing the CPU and exploring core unlocking, potentially elevating the PC's capabilities.
