Unlock Hidden Gold from Pentium Pro Computer Scrap

"Welcome back to my Channel, everyone. Today, I'm going to share three tips with you on how to recover gold from computer chips. First, we need to break up the chips with a hammer. Some people may be emotionally attached to these chips, but I bought them specifically for the gold they contain.

After breaking the chips, we transfer the pieces into a melt dish. It's important to break them up enough so we can access the gold inside. We then use a torch to burn off any oil and grease that might be on the chips.

Next, we add hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide to dissolve the base metals, leaving only the gold foils behind. The acid peroxide solution helps to remove the base metals before we try to recover the gold foils.

Once the base metals are removed, we filter the solution to capture the gold foils. We then use a combination of sulfuric acid and nitric acid, known as aqua regia, to dissolve the gold foils and create a gold-bearing solution.

Afterward, we use sodium metabisulfite to precipitate the pure gold out of the solution. The gold settles at the bottom of the beaker, and we carefully rinse and transfer it into a melt dish to be melted into a bead.

However, the yield of gold is lower than expected, and the purity is not very high. This is a common issue when refining e-scrap. Despite the low yield, our process makes the recovery and refining of gold easier.

In conclusion, while refining e-scrap can be challenging, our method can still produce some recoverable gold. Thank you for watching."
