Who is this best for?

  • Content marketers and SEO specialists needing high-volume, targeted content generation.

  • Business owners looking to automate their content pipeline using powerful n8n templates.

  • Freelancers and agencies who manage SEO for multiple clients.

  • Users familiar with n8n and requiring integration between AI, search APIs, and Google Sheets.

Overview

Generating relevant, SEO-optimized content often requires manual research into what users are actually searching for. This sophisticated n8n workflow solves this by fully automating the research and drafting process. Starting from a simple list of topics in Google Sheets, this n8n automation orchestrates connections to SerpAPI for deep People Also Ask (PAA) data and a custom Autocomplete service. This extracted search intelligence is then fed into GPT-4o via an n8n node, instructing the AI to weave these keywords and questions into a natural, narrative blog post. By using this n8n template, users can significantly accelerate their content velocity while ensuring every article is grounded in real search intent.

How it Works

This powerful n8n workflow begins when the n8n trigger detects a new row added to a designated Google Sheet.

  1. Data Ingestion and Filtering: The n8n trigger fetches the new rows. The flow then filters these rows using a Code n8n node, ensuring only topics without a 'done' status are processed. A Wait n8n node is included to handle large batches gracefully.

  2. Topic Preparation: The ‘Broad Words’ Code n8n node extracts simplified keywords from the 'Blog Inspiration' column to optimize API requests.

  3. Data Gathering: Two concurrent branches gather SEO intelligence. The first uses an HTTP Request n8n node (integrated with SerpAPI) to pull People Also Ask (PAA) questions based on the full topic. The second uses another HTTP Request n8n node, targeting a custom web service for Google Autocomplete suggestions and additional PAA data using the simplified keywords.

  4. Consolidation: The data is merged and unified by the ‘All of the Information’ Code n8n node, mapping the rich search data back to the original topic item.

  5. Looping and Generation: The ‘Loop Over Items’ n8n node processes each topic individually. Inside the loop, a Langchain Agent n8n node defines a detailed prompt that directs the connected GPT-4 n8n node to generate a blog post based on the aggregated Autocomplete keywords and PAA questions.

  6. Export and Status Update: A Set n8n node prepares the output, including the generated blog draft and setting the 'Status' column to 'done'. Finally, the result is written back to the Google Sheet using the Google Sheets n8n node, completing the automation cycle of this advanced n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

To utilize this sophisticated n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Copy the provided n8n workflow JSON and paste it into your n8n instance.

  2. Google Sheets Setup: Create a new Google Sheet with columns titled 'Blog Inspiration', 'Status', and 'Blog Draft'. Update the 'Google Sheets Trigger' and all 'Google Sheets' n8n node credentials and configuration to point to your new document and sheet name.

  3. SerpAPI Credential: Locate the 'PAA (SerpAPI)' n8n node (an HTTP Request). You must enter your SerpAPI key as a query parameter (api_key).

  4. OpenAI Credential: Set up the credentials for the 'GPT-4' n8n node (Langchain Chat OpenAI node). This requires an API key for access to models like gpt-4o.

  5. Custom Autocomplete Service: The 'Autocomplete' n8n node uses a publicly available custom API (https://seo-api2.onrender.com/get-seo-data) and requires no special key, but note its usage constraints mentioned in the workflow notes.

  6. Activation: Ensure all credentials are set up correctly. Activate the 'Google Sheets Trigger' n8n node to start the listener, or execute the n8n workflow manually.

Node Details

Google Sheets Trigger (n8n trigger): Initiates the n8n workflow when a new row is added, signaling a new topic requiring a blog post.
Read Rows (Google Sheets n8n node): Fetches all available data from the specified Google Sheet.
Only Reads Empty Status (Code n8n node): Filters the incoming items, allowing only rows where the Status column is empty to proceed, preventing reprocessing.
Broad Words (Code n8n node): Processes the 'Blog Inspiration' field to extract simpler keywords, preparing optimal input for the Autocomplete API request.
PAA (SerpAPI) (HTTP Request n8n node): Queries the SerpAPI to retrieve 'People Also Ask' questions, a crucial step for SEO optimization.
Autocomplete (HTTP Request n8n node): Sends a POST request to a custom API to retrieve live Google Autocomplete suggestions and related PAA data based on the extracted keywords.
All of the Information (Code n8n node): Consolidates the data streams from the Autocomplete and SerpAPI n8n nodes, structuring the input (topic, autocomplete list, PAA list) for the AI generation step.
Loop Over Items (n8n node): Ensures that each topic is processed sequentially by the GPT-4 n8n node.
Generate Blog Post (Langchain Agent n8n node): Houses the detailed, multi-part prompt template, directing the language model to write a context-aware, SEO-friendly article using the gathered search data.
GPT-4 (Langchain Chat OpenAI n8n node): The core AI engine, configured to use gpt-4o to produce the final blog post draft.
Update "Done" Status (Set n8n node): Structures the final output item, mapping the generated text to the 'Blog Draft' column and setting the 'Status' to 'done'.
Export (Google Sheets n8n node): Updates the original row in the Google Sheet with the generated blog content and the updated status, concluding this complex n8n workflow.
