Who is this best for?

Software development teams needing automated triage for bug reports.
System administrators looking to transform external logs or user reports into actionable GitHub issues.
Users seeking advanced examples of integrating LLMs (like Google Gemini) within an n8n workflow.
Anyone who wants pre-built n8n templates for flow control, conditional branching, and approval loops.

Overview

Managing incoming bug reports manually can be time-consuming and lead to delays in fixing critical issues. This specialized n8n workflow solves this by providing instant classification and automated issue creation. The automation starts with an n8n trigger (a Webhook) that captures raw bug data. This data is then routed through a sophisticated Google Gemini classification model, which determines the severity (High or Low). High-severity bugs proceed immediately to GitHub issue creation after summarization. Low-severity bugs are subjected to a required managerial approval step via Gmail before being officially logged, ensuring your GitHub repository remains focused on high-impact items. If approval is denied or the issue is low severity, a simple Telegram notification is sent instead. This end-to-end n8n workflow ensures rapid response times and efficient resource allocation, demonstrating the power of smart n8n templates in DevOps.

How it Works

This high-utility n8n workflow operates in several distinct stages:

  1. Incoming Trigger: The process begins when the Webhook n8n trigger receives a POST request containing the bug report payload (message, name, userId).

  2. AI Classification: The data immediately passes to the Bug Classifier n8n node, which leverages the Google Gemini model to categorize the issue as 'High' (disrupts main flow) or 'Low' (minor user experience impact).

  3. Conditional Approval (Low Severity Path): All issues are initially routed to the Approval from Manager n8n node (a Gmail node configured for 'send and wait'), prompting a specific manager to review the bug.

  4. Flow Control: The subsequent If n8n node checks the approval status.

If the issue is approved (true), the workflow continues down the GitHub creation path.
If it is rejected or determined to be low priority and unapproved, the flow diverts to the Notify Group Telegram n8n node, sending a simple 'Low Severity' alert.

  1. Data Preparation and Summarization (GitHub Path): Approved issues hit the Filter n8n node to organize the payload. Next, the Bug Description Summarizer n8n node (also using Gemini) creates a concise summary suitable for a GitHub issue title.

  2. Issue Creation: The Create an issue GitHub n8n node automatically opens a new bug ticket, populating the title with the AI-generated summary and the body with the full context (original message, name, and image link).

  3. Confirmation Alert: Finally, the Notify Manager Group Telegram n8n node sends a detailed, high-severity alert confirming the GitHub issue creation, including the direct link to the newly created ticket. This robust n8n workflow ensures nothing slips through the cracks.

Installation Guide

To deploy this comprehensive n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n template: Copy the provided JSON data and import it directly into your n8n instance via the 'Workflows' menu using the 'New' -> 'Import from JSON' option.

  2. Setup Credentials: This n8n workflow requires credentials for four services:

Google Gemini (PaLM) API: Set up your Gemini API key for both Google Gemini Chat Model and Google Gemini Chat Model1 n8n node instances.
Gmail OAuth2: Configure the credentials for the manager's approval email (used by the Approval from Manager n8n node).
GitHub API: Authenticate your GitHub account, ensuring it has write permissions to the target repository specified in the Create an issue n8n node.
Telegram API: Configure the API credentials for sending notifications. You must specify the chatId for both Notify Group and Notify Manager Group Telegram n8n nodes.

  1. Configure Webhook: Activate the Webhook n8n trigger and copy the generated URL. This is the endpoint where your external bug reporting system must send data.

  2. Customize Node Parameters: Adjust the recipient email in the Approval from Manager n8n node and the GitHub repository owner/name in the Create an issue n8n node to match your organization's settings.

Node Details

Webhook (n8n trigger): The starting point for the n8n workflow, set to listen for POST requests at a unique path (c16e3a34-5998-41c2-8a94-c9f0bddf3f27).
Bug Classifier (Langchain Text Classifier): This core n8n node uses the connected Gemini model to categorize the bug severity based on a custom system prompt.
Approval from Manager (Gmail): Uses the 'sendAndWait' operation to send an approval email to [email protected]. The subsequent flow waits here for a response before proceeding.
If (Core Logic Flow Control): A crucial n8n node that routes the execution based on whether the manager approved the bug ($json.data.approved is true).
Filter (Set): A utility n8n node used to consolidate relevant data fields (message, name, userId) from the original payload before summarization.
Bug Description Summarizer (Langchain Summarization): Leverages the Google Gemini model via the connected n8n node to generate a concise summary from the potentially long bug description.
Create an issue (GitHub): The final action n8n node. It creates a new issue, dynamically generating the title from the AI summary and populating the body with key details, linking back to the raw input data.
Notify Group / Notify Manager Group (Telegram): These two Telegram n8n nodes handle communication, sending different alert messages based on the bug's severity and creation status.
