Who is this best for?

  • Security researchers and pentesters looking to automate intelligence gathering.

  • Users who need a constant, passive stream of high-value technical tips.

  • Developers seeking ready-to-use n8n templates for advanced data extraction and logging.

  • Anyone managing threat intelligence feeds via a custom n8n workflow.

Overview

Keeping up with the latest bug bounty tips and security research shared on Twitter can be highly time-consuming. This specialized n8n workflow solves this by providing a reliable, automated ingestion pipeline. It uses a scheduled n8n trigger to periodically query a premium Twitter API service with a finely tuned search query, ensuring relevance and filtering out spam (like 'writeups' or 'discounts'). The primary value of this n8n template lies in its data hygiene: it utilizes a custom n8n node (Code) to standardize the incoming JSON and then uses the TweetID as a unique identifier within the Google Sheets n8n node to prevent the logging of duplicate tips, making your intelligence sheet clean and highly valuable.

How it Works

This automation initiates using the Schedule n8n trigger, which is configured to run the n8n workflow every four hours, ensuring a constant stream of new data.

  1. Data Fetching: The Schedule n8n trigger activates an HTTP Request n8n node, which connects to the twitterapi.io service. It uses an advanced search query (e.g., targeting #bugbountytips and actively excluding common noisy keywords) to retrieve the latest relevant tweets.

  2. Data Cleaning & Formatting: The raw JSON data from the API is then processed by a specialized Code n8n node. This essential step parses the potentially complex API response, extracts key fields (Tweet ID, URL, content, metrics), and formats the createdAt timestamp into a readable string.

  3. Logging and Deduplication: Finally, the cleaned data items are passed to the Google Sheets n8n node. This n8n node is configured to use the Append or update row operation, utilizing the unique TweetID field as the key matcher. If a tip has already been logged, the n8n workflow skips it; otherwise, it appends a new row, ensuring your Google Sheet remains perfectly de-duplicated.

Installation Guide

To deploy this powerful n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Import the provided JSON into your self-hosted or cloud n8n instance.

  2. Google Sheets Setup:

Create a new Google Sheet with the required column headers: Date, Created At, TweetID, Content, and Url.
Configure Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials within n8n.
Update the Google Sheets n8n node parameters with your specific Document ID.

  1. Twitter API Credentials (twitterapi.io):

Sign up for an API key at the required third-party service.
In the n8n credentials section, create a new HTTP Header Auth credential.
Set the Header Name to x-api-key and the Value to your acquired API key.
* Connect these credentials to the HTTP Request n8n node.

  1. Activation: Once credentials are set up and connected, activate the n8n workflow.

Node Details

Schedule Trigger (n8n trigger): The entry point for this n8n workflow. It is configured to execute the entire process every 4 hours, ensuring timely data collection.
HTTP Request (n8n node): Responsible for fetching data from the external Twitter API. It uses generic HTTP Header authentication and sends a complex query designed to maximize the relevance of 'bug bounty tips' retrieved.
Code (n8n node): A critical data transformation step. This custom JavaScript code processes the API response, handling both single and multiple tweet returns. Its primary function is to extract necessary fields and ensure the createdAt date is formatted correctly for subsequent steps in the n8n workflow.
Append or update row in sheet (Google Sheets n8n node): The final action. This n8n node uses the appendOrUpdate operation and relies on the TweetID as the unique identifier. This prevents the n8n workflow from creating duplicate entries if the search pulls tweets that were already logged in previous cycles. It uses advanced expressions to format the date string back into a sortable format for Google Sheets.
