Overview

This comprehensive n8n workflow solves the critical problem of outdated competitive intelligence. Instead of manually searching, vetting sources, and drafting battlecards, this automation acts as a proactive, real-time sales intelligence system. When a competitor is mentioned in Slack, the n8n trigger starts a deep-dive investigation. This n8n workflow leverages powerful tools like Perplexity for sophisticated web search and Jina AI for focused, deep web content extraction to gather features, pricing, and customer sentiment. Multiple specialized AI agents then collaboratively synthesize this raw data into a structured Notion database page, which serves as the final battlecard. This robust n8n node architecture ensures that sales teams always have the most current, accurate competitive information, making this one of the most powerful n8n templates available for enhancing competitive strategy and sales efficiency.

How it Works

  1. Triggering the n8n workflow: The process starts with the Slack Trigger - Competitor Mention n8n trigger. This activates when a predefined competitor name or keyword is used in a specific, monitored Slack channel.

  2. Initial AI Processing & Lookup: The Slack message is routed through a Code n8n node for initial parsing and then handed off to a primary Langchain AI Agent. This agent uses internal Data Table n8n nodes to look up competitor base data, such as canonical URLs.

  3. Data Acquisition Phase: If the competitor is recognized, the workflow proceeds to gather intelligence. A Code in JavaScript3 n8n node prepares requests that are executed concurrently across several data sources:

Four dedicated Jina AI n8n nodes scrape specific web URLs (likely competitor pricing/feature pages) for comprehensive content extraction.
Four specialized Perplexity n8n nodes execute complex searches to gather current ratings, sentiment, competitive intelligence, and product features.

  1. AI Synthesis and Battlecard Generation: All gathered raw intelligence is merged in Merge3 and then formatted by Code in JavaScript. The resulting data is distributed across five specialized Langchain AI Agents (AI Agent1 to AI Agent5). Each agent uses an Anthropic LLM to synthesize a distinct, expert section of the final battlecard (e.g., SWOT analysis, sales talking points, feature matrix).

  2. Final Output and Notification: The structured outputs from all five AI agents are merged using the Merge n8n node and finally formatted by Code in JavaScript4 into the appropriate Notion structure. A Create a database page Notion n8n node saves the complete battlecard. The n8n workflow concludes by sending a success message via the Send Battlecard Created Slack n8n node, alerting the relevant team.

Installation Guide

  1. Import the n8n workflow: Copy the provided JSON into your n8n instance using the 'New' -> 'Import from JSON' option.

  2. Configure Credentials: You will need to set up credentials for the following services:

Slack: For the n8n trigger and the final notification node.
Notion: To allow the workflow to create pages in your designated battlecard database.
Perplexity: For the advanced web search and synthesis steps.
Jina AI: For effective web content extraction.
* Anthropic: To power the internal Langchain Agents (if not using an embedded LLM integration).

  1. Set up Triggers and Webhooks: Ensure the Slack Trigger n8n trigger is correctly configured to listen to the desired channel and keywords.

  2. Customize Data Table & Notion: Update the Data Table and Notion n8n nodes to reference your specific competitor list and battlecard database IDs. This complex n8n template requires careful mapping of fields.

Node Details

Slack Trigger - Competitor Mention (n8n trigger): The starting point for the automated n8n workflow, reacting to key phrases in Slack.
AI Agent (Langchain Agent): The primary orchestrator n8n node, responsible for high-level decision-making and using tools (like Get row(s) in Data table) to gather initial context.
Jina AI (Read URL content series): Specialized web scraping n8n node used four times to quickly and comprehensively extract full text from competitor URLs, ensuring the AI agents have rich context.
Perplexity (Specialized nodes): Four dedicated Perplexity n8n nodes execute focused, real-time web searches to gather external market intelligence, such as ratings, sentiment, and competitive positioning.
Code in JavaScript: Several instances of this powerful n8n node are used to manage complex data transformations, including parsing input, distributing parallel search requests, and structuring the final output into a cohesive format ready for Notion.
Notion (Create a database page): The final delivery n8n node. It receives the fully synthesized competitive data and publishes it as a structured battlecard page in a Notion database, completing the primary goal of this n8n workflow.

  • Anthropic Chat Model: Integrated into the Langchain agents, this acts as the core large language model, executing the analysis and content synthesis required to create professional battlecard content from the aggregated raw data.
