  • Developers looking for powerful n8n templates for complex web scraping and publishing tasks.

  • Marketing agencies managing international news portals or affiliate sites.

  • Anyone seeking a complete, zero-touch news aggregation and localization n8n workflow.

Overview

Managing a multilingual content portal requires massive effort in sourcing, translating, and styling articles. This sophisticated n8n workflow solves this by providing a hands-off solution. It starts with an RSS feed, utilizes robust web scraping, and employs the power of OpenAI to ensure high-quality, localized, and SEO-optimized content in a base language (e.g., German) and multiple target languages (e.g., English, Italian).

Furthermore, this n8n automation eliminates the manual step of finding visuals by integrating AI image generation (via Replicate) to create unique, relevant featured images for every post. The final result is a professional, high-volume publishing solution that correctly maps all translated titles and content into WordPress Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), ready for display by multilingual plugins. This is one of the most powerful n8n templates available for high-scale content operations.

How it Works

The entire process is initiated by the RSS Feed Trigger n8n node, which periodically monitors a specified news source.

  1. Scraping and Extraction: When a new item is found, the n8n workflow uses an HTTP Request to scrape the article URL (via Firecrawl) and immediately passes the HTML to an OpenAI Detect and Extract Article n8n node. This node cleans the raw HTML, isolating the core article title and body.

  2. Rewriting (Default Language): The article is then sent to the Rewrite article in default language OpenAI n8n node. This stage rewrites the content into the main chosen language (e.g., German), adapting the style (e.g., for a technology news portal), adding appropriate HTML structure (

    , ,

), and ensuring strong SEO formatting.
    • Translation (Secondary Languages): The n8n workflow then uses the Split Out Translate Languages n8n node to iterate over the list of secondary languages. For each language, the Translate news OpenAI n8n node generates a precise, fluent translation, strictly preserving the HTML structure applied in the previous step.

    • Data Structuring: The translations are aggregated, and a Code in JavaScript n8n node transforms the collected data into the exact nested JSON structure required by WordPress ACF, mapping content fields like contentenglish and titleitalian.

    • Image Generation and Upload: Concurrently, the n8n workflow generates a detailed prompt based on the article's new title using the Generate Image Prompt n8n node. This prompt is sent to the Generate Featured Image n8n node (Replicate API) for creation. The resulting image URL is used by the Download Image n8n node, and finally uploaded to WordPress via the Upload image to wordpress n8n node, retrieving the crucial image ID.

    • Publishing: A final Merge n8n node combines the ACF multilingual data and the image ID. The Publish article and translations n8n node then sends the complete structured payload to the WordPress API, publishing the multilingual post with its new AI-generated featured image.

Installation Guide

To deploy this comprehensive n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON and import it into your n8n instance.

  2. Configure Credentials: This n8n template requires credentials for:

Firecrawl: For the scraping HTTP Request n8n node.
OpenAI API: Used for extraction, rewriting, and translation.
Replicate.com: Used by the Generate Featured Image n8n node for AI image creation (Flux-Krea-Dev model is used here).
WordPress API: For publishing the final post and uploading the image.

  1. WordPress ACF Setup: Crucially, your WordPress site must have the Advanced Custom Fields plugin installed. Create custom fields for every language you intend to support, naming them consistently (e.g., titlegerman, contentgerman, titleitalian, contentitalian).

  2. Set Workflow Variables: Update the RSS Feed Trigger URL and modify the Assign and Multilingual Prompt n8n node to set your defaultlanguage and country.

  3. Update Translation List: Modify the otherlanguages array in the Get rewrited article n8n node with the exact language keys corresponding to your ACF fields (e.g., ["english", "italian"]).

  4. Customize Prompts: Review and adjust the OpenAI prompts in the Rewrite article in default language and Translate news n8n nodes, and the image prompt in the Generate Image Prompt n8n node, to match your brand style and target audience.

Node Details

RSS Feed Trigger: The primary n8n trigger. Function: Checks the specified RSS feed URL hourly for new articles.
Scrape Page (HTTP Request): Function: Sends the article link to Firecrawl to get the raw HTML content of the page.
Detect and Extract Article from Page HTML (OpenAI): Function: Uses GPT-4o-mini to analyze the scraped HTML, extract the clean article title and body, and remove navigation, ads, and boilerplate text.
Rewrite article in default language (OpenAI): Function: Translates/rewrites the extracted content into the designated default language (e.g., German) and applies advanced HTML formatting for SEO and readability. This is a crucial n8n node for quality control.
Split Out Translate Languages (Split Out): Function: Takes the array of secondary languages and splits the workflow execution path, allowing parallel processing for each translation job.
Translate news (OpenAI): Function: Translates the rewritten article into secondary languages (e.g., English, Italian), preserving the formatting and structure.
Code in JavaScript: Function: Aggregates all translated and default-language content items and structures the data into the JSON format required by WordPress ACF fields.
Generate Featured Image (HTTP Request): Function: Calls the Replicate API (Flux-Krea-Dev model) to generate a unique featured image based on the article title.
Upload image to wordpress (HTTP Request): Function: Uploads the generated image file to the WordPress media library and returns the image ID.
Publish article and translations (HTTP Request): Function: The final n8n node that sends the complete structured payload—including the main title, main content, image ID, and ACF multilingual data—to the WordPress REST API to publish the post.
