Overview

Generating comprehensive SEO audit reports manually is time-consuming and often repetitive. This powerful n8n workflow streamlines the entire process, allowing users to submit a URL via a simple web form and instantly receive a structured report in Google Docs. This n8n automation utilizes RapidAPI for complex data analysis, transforming raw technical scores into a clean, actionable document. Using this n8n template ensures consistency, saves countless hours, and enables immediate sharing of audit results without ever leaving your document ecosystem. It's a perfect example of how a custom n8n node can bridge the gap between complex API data and user-friendly documentation.

How it Works

This efficient n8n workflow operates in four main steps, triggered by user input:

  1. Trigger (On form submission): The process begins when a user submits a website URL through the n8n form trigger. This initiates the entire sequence.

  2. API Request (Website Audit): The submitted URL is immediately passed to the httpRequest n8n node, which calls the RapidAPI Website SEO Analyzer and Audit AI service. This node retrieves all the necessary raw data (metadata, performance scores, security checks, etc.).

  3. Data Processing (Reformat): The core of this n8n workflow is the code n8n node. It accepts the complex JSON structure returned by the API and uses custom JavaScript to parse, calculate, and format the data into a clean Markdown report summarizing keywords, performance metrics, H-tags, and security status. This creates the final report content.

  4. Final Action (Add Data In Google Docs): The newly formatted SEO report content is then passed to the Google Docs n8n node, which securely inserts the text content into a predefined Google Docs document, completing the automated reporting cycle.

Installation Guide

To deploy and utilize this n8n workflow template, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON and import it into your n8n instance via the 'New' menu -> 'Import from JSON'.

  2. Set up the Trigger: Activate the 'On form submission' n8n trigger node to generate the unique public webhook URL for your submission form.

  3. Configure RapidAPI: Update the 'Website Audit' n8n node. You must replace the placeholder for the x-rapidapi-key in the headers with your actual key for the Website SEO Analyzer and Audit AI service on RapidAPI.

  4. Set up Google Docs Credentials: Provide the credentials for the 'Add Data In Google Docs' n8n node, typically using a Service Account for robust, non-interactive use.

  5. Specify Target Document: In the 'Add Data In Google Docs' n8n node, ensure you input the exact documentURL of the Google Doc where you want the automated reports to be inserted. The node is configured to append the new report content.

Node Details

  • On form submission (n8n trigger): This is the starting point, an essential n8n trigger that captures user input (specifically the website 'url') required to initiate the audit. It creates a simple public form interface.

  • Website Audit (httpRequest n8n node): Responsible for interfacing with the external service. It is configured as a POST request to the RapidAPI SEO analyzer endpoint, dynamically pulling the url from the previous n8n node output: ={{ $json.url }}.

  • Reformat (code n8n node): This highly customized n8n node is vital. It processes raw API data fields (like basic, advanced, performance, security), uses JavaScript functions to evaluate statuses (e.g., 'passed' or 'failed'), and structures the output into a readable, multi-section Markdown format (docContent).

  • Add Data In Google Docs (googleDocs n8n node): This n8n node connects to the Google Docs API. It uses the update operation and the insert action to append the formatted docContent generated by the previous n8n node into the specified target document.
