Overview

This robust n8n workflow streamlines the critical process of handling incoming bug reports without manual intervention. A user submitting a bug via JotForm immediately activates the automation, providing a seamless user experience while ensuring immediate internal action. The core intelligence lies within the AI Agent, powered by Google Gemini, which intelligently reads the unstructured report, uses specialized GitHub tools to query your repository, identifies duplicate issues, or creates a brand new, structured issue automatically. The entire report and the AI’s analysis are efficiently logged in a Google Sheets n8n node for record-keeping and auditing. Furthermore, the team receives an immediate, context-aware alert via Telegram. This specific n8n workflow is a perfect example of how advanced AI agents and robust n8n automation can be combined for high-efficiency project management.

How it Works

This comprehensive automation solution utilizes several interconnected n8n node steps:

  1. Trigger Event: The n8n workflow begins when the JotForm Trigger n8n node detects a new form submission containing a bug report. This is the starting point of the entire process.

  2. AI Analysis & Tool Use: The submitted data (specifically the detailed bug description) is forwarded to the AI Agent n8n node. This agent, configured with the Google Gemini large language model, intelligently determines the next steps. It first utilizes the 'Get issues of a repository in GitHub' tool to check for existing duplicates based on the context. If no match is found, it uses the 'Create an issue in GitHub' tool, meticulously formatting the bug data into a clean, new GitHub issue.

  3. Data Logging: The output generated by the AI agent (which includes the refined issue description and the presentingithub status) is passed to the Append or update row in sheet Google Sheets n8n node. This ensures that a complete audit log of the submission details and the AI's decision is maintained.

  4. Notification Generation: The Code in JavaScript n8n node takes the result from the previous step and prepares a dynamic notification message. This logic customizes the Telegram alert based on whether the issue was newly created or identified as a previously reported duplicate.

  5. Alerting: Finally, the Send a text message n8n node executes the last step of this powerful n8n workflow, alerting the designated Telegram chat about the status of the processed bug report. This automated sequence drastically reduces triage time.

Installation Guide

To deploy this powerful n8n workflow and start automating your bug reports, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON data and paste it into your n8n instance using the 'New' > 'Import from JSON' option.

  2. JotForm Setup: Configure the JotForm Trigger n8n node by selecting the specific form you wish to monitor. Ensure the necessary JotForm API credentials are set up in n8n.

  3. AI Credentials: Provide the credentials for the Google Gemini Chat Model (or update it to use OpenAI if preferred). This powers the AI Agent n8n node.

  4. GitHub Credentials & Configuration: Configure the shared GitHub API credentials for both the 'Get issues' and 'Create an issue' tools. Crucially, you must hardcode the repository Owner and Name within the parameters of both GitHub tool n8n nodes for the AI Agent to function correctly.

  5. Google Sheets Setup: Link your Google Sheets account and specify the target Document ID and Sheet Name for logging the bug submissions.

  6. Telegram Setup: Provide your Telegram API credentials and the Chat ID in the Send a text message n8n node to ensure team alerts are delivered.

  7. Activate: Once all credentials and configurations are verified, activate the n8n workflow.

Node Details

JotForm Trigger (n8n trigger): This initial n8n node serves as the entry point, activating the entire automation upon receiving a new submission from the configured bug report form. It captures all user input data.
AI Agent (n8n node): The brain of the workflow. It coordinates the logic, utilizing the Google Gemini LLM and specialized GitHub tools. Key configuration includes detailed instructions (prompt) to read the input, check for duplicates, and conditionally create a new issue, ensuring structured output via the Structured Output Parser n8n node.
Get issues of a repository in GitHub (n8n node): A specialized tool used by the AI Agent to query the target GitHub repository for existing issues matching the new bug description.
Create an issue in GitHub (n8n node): Used by the AI Agent when a bug is determined to be novel. It dynamically sets the issue title and body using the AI-generated structured data.
Append or update row in sheet (n8n node): Logs all processed data (including the user's name, submission ID, and the AI's final verdict on duplication) into Google Sheets, providing a reliable record for this critical n8n workflow.
Code in JavaScript (n8n node): Performs simple logic to construct a tailored notification message, essential for providing quick context to the receiving team.

  • Send a text message (n8n node): The final action, sending the dynamically generated alert message to Telegram.
