Who is this best for?

  • Digital Marketing Agencies needing automated client reports.

  • Website Administrators monitoring a portfolio of sites.

  • Data Analysts seeking unified, AI-summarized web performance data.

  • Users looking for advanced examples of n8n templates integrating AI and scheduling.

Overview

Managing analytics across numerous websites can be tedious and time-consuming. This specialized n8n workflow solves this by completely automating the daily reporting process.

It leverages the power of the n8n platform to simultaneously query up to eight different Google Analytics properties, aggregating key metrics like page views, event counts, and engagement duration. The gathered data is then passed to an OpenAI-powered LangChain Agent, which is instructed to format the complex JSON output into a clean, summarized HTML table.

This robust n8n workflow ensures you receive a cohesive, easy-to-read daily report directly to your inbox and communication channels (like Slack), eliminating manual data collection and interpretation. This specific n8n node configuration for data extraction and AI processing makes it an essential tool for high-volume digital asset managers.

How it Works

This automation begins with a scheduled n8n trigger and executes a complex, parallelized data extraction and reporting process.

  1. Scheduled Activation: The process starts daily at 8 AM using the Schedule Trigger n8n trigger.

  2. Parallel Data Extraction: Immediately, eight separate Google Analytics n8n node instances run concurrently. Each instance is configured to fetch 'yesterday's' core metrics (Total Users, Page Views, Event Count, Engagement Duration) for a different website property.

  3. Error Handling: The first data stream passes through an If n8n node to check if data was successfully retrieved (a proxy for credential validity). If the check fails, the n8n workflow diverts to a dedicated error notification path (sending alerts via SMTP/Slack).

  4. Data Consolidation: The successful data outputs from all eight Google Analytics n8n node instances are combined using a Merge node, followed by an Aggregate node to compile all website metrics into a single dataset.

  5. AI Report Generation: The aggregated data feeds into the Report maker agent n8n node, which utilizes the GPT 4.1 nano model. This agent is provided a strict prompt to act as a data analyst, specifically tasked with using the input data to generate a single, structured HTML table summarizing the performance of all eight sites.

  6. Report Distribution: The final, AI-generated HTML report is delivered via the Email Send (SMTP) n8n node and confirmed with a successful process notification via the Slack n8n node. Alternative nodes for Gmail and Telegram are available for flexible distribution in this powerful n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

To deploy this comprehensive n8n workflow template, follow these setup steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON data and import it directly into your n8n instance using the 'New' -> 'Import from JSON' option.

  2. Google Analytics Credentials: Set up OAuth2 credentials for Google Analytics in n8n. Ensure the credentials selected in all eight 'yoursite.com' n8n node instances are correct and link to the relevant GA4 Property IDs.

  3. OpenAI Credentials: Create a dedicated OpenAI credential in n8n and select it in the GPT 4.1 nano n8n node.

  4. Distribution Credentials: Configure your preferred notification channels. This includes setting up credentials for SMTP (for the main email report) and Slack (for notifications). You can utilize the alternative Gmail/Outlook/Telegram n8n templates provided in the workflow structure if needed.

  5. Customize GA Nodes: Adjust the names and Property IDs of the eight Google Analytics n8n nodes to match your actual websites. Ensure you also update the data references within the prompt of the Report maker agent n8n node to correctly link all eight sites to the HTML table structure.

  6. Activate: Save and activate the n8n workflow. The Schedule Trigger n8n trigger will handle daily execution automatically.

Node Details

Schedule Trigger (n8n trigger): Initiates the entire automation daily at 8:00 AM. Key to making this a timely, scheduled n8n workflow.
Google Analytics (8 instances): Fetches yesterday's core metrics (Total Users, Page Views, Events) for eight distinct GA4 properties. Essential for multi-site reporting.
If (Check if error): Core flow control n8n node. Checks if the initial Google Analytics data fetch was successful. Routes failure to error notifications and success to data processing.
Merge & Aggregate: These n8n nodes combine the 8 individual data streams into one structured dataset for the AI to process.
Report maker agent (LangChain Agent n8n node): The primary processing unit. Uses a specific data analyst role and instructions to take the JSON analytics data and generate a comprehensive HTML table, leveraging expressions to access data from previous n8n node outputs.
GPT 4.1 nano (LangChain Chat OpenAI n8n node): The large language model (LLM) backing the agent, responsible for formatting the final report based on the agent's instructions.
Email Send (SMTP): Distributes the final, AI-generated HTML report to the specified recipients. A critical component of the reporting n8n workflow.
Slack: Sends a notification confirming the successful completion of the daily reporting process, ensuring timely updates.
