Who is this best for?

• Content marketers needing automated daily content digests.
• Community managers seeking to highlight key discussions from forums.
• Technical bloggers looking for high-value n8n templates for rapid content generation.
• Automation specialists requiring complex web scraping and AI orchestration within an n8n workflow.

Overview

Manually curating valuable information from dense forums like Reddit and transforming it into engaging, publishable content is time-consuming. This powerful automation addresses this challenge by providing a complete end-to-end solution. This specific n8n workflow template uses a scheduled n8n trigger to run daily, scraping detailed post metrics (including comments and upvotes via BrightData) that are not available through a standard RSS feed. The resulting data is fed into an n8n AI Agent node, which executes a highly complex editorial brief designed to generate a structured, style-compliant HTML newsletter (mimicking the 'Morning Brew' format). This solution drastically reduces the editorial time required for high-quality content creation, delivering a valuable output across multiple channels (email and Dev.to) entirely through this robust n8n workflow.

How it Works

The execution begins with a scheduled n8n trigger. First, the RSS Read n8n node fetches recent posts from the target subreddit (r/n8n). These post links are aggregated and passed to the BrightData n8n node to initiate a detailed web scraping batch extraction, capturing crucial metrics like comment counts and upvotes, which inform the content ranking. The n8n workflow then enters a monitoring loop (using an If and Wait n8n node), checking the BrightData job status until the snapshot is ready. Once downloaded, the data is pre-processed using Set n8n node operations to format the information—including complex comment JSON structures—into a unified text payload. This payload is consumed by the specialized n8n AI Agent node, which utilizes connected large language models (like OpenAI GPT-5 or Google Gemini) to follow strict instructions: ranking posts by score, segmenting the content into 'Top Stories,' 'Quick Hits,' 'Q&A,' and 'Comment Spotlight,' and outputting the entire digest as clean, inline-styled HTML. Finally, this HTML is distributed via a Gmail n8n node as the daily email digest and simultaneously converted to Markdown using the Markdown n8n node before being published as an article on Dev.to using an HTTP Request n8n node. This full automation cycle is executed efficiently within this integrated n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

  1. Import the n8n workflow: Copy the provided JSON data and paste it into your n8n instance using the 'New' -> 'Import from JSON' option.

  2. Set up Credentials: This n8n workflow requires credentials for:

BrightData API: For the Initiate batch extraction from URL and subsequent monitoring/download n8n node operations.
OpenAI or Google Gemini: Required by the AI Agent n8n node for content generation.
Gmail OAuth2: For sending the final email digest.
Dev.to HTTP Custom Auth: For publishing the Markdown article.

  1. Configure the RSS Feed: Ensure the RSS Read n8n node points to the correct Reddit RSS feed if you wish to change the source.

  2. Activate the n8n trigger: Ensure the Schedule Trigger n8n node is enabled and set to your desired frequency (e.g., daily).

  3. Review AI Agent Prompt: The system message in the AI Agent n8n node contains detailed rules for summarization and formatting. Review and adjust variables like {{newsletter_name}} if needed.

Node Details

Schedule Trigger (n8n trigger): The starting point for this automated n8n workflow, ensuring it runs at regular intervals.
RSS Read (n8n node): Fetches the latest posts from the specified Reddit RSS feed (https://www.reddit.com/r/n8n.rss).
BrightData (Initiate batch extraction): A crucial step in this n8n workflow. It uses the BrightData integration to trigger a web scraping job based on the collected Reddit URLs, retrieving data (like comments and precise counts) beyond what the RSS provides.
If / Wait (n8n node flow control): Manages a polling loop to wait for the BrightData scraping job to complete before proceeding.
Set (Extract Essential Data / Reduce Objects to 1): Prepares the scraped JSON data, extracting key fields and transforming complex comment data structures into a clean string format suitable for the AI model.
Aggregate (n8n node): Combines the individual post data outputs into a single text input for the subsequent AI Agent.
AI Agent (n8n node): The core intelligence of the n8n workflow. It takes the structured data, uses the defined editorial prompt, and generates the complete, complex HTML newsletter document using a connected LLM (like OpenAI's GPT-5 or Google Gemini).
Gmail (n8n node): Sends the final, HTML-formatted digest as an email newsletter.
Markdown (n8n node): Converts the AI-generated HTML output into Markdown format, necessary for API publication platforms.
HTTP Request (Publish to Dev.to): Publishes the Markdown content to the Dev.to platform, completing the multi-channel delivery aspect of this n8n template.
