Overview

Manual collection of B2B lead data from LinkedIn is time-consuming and prone to errors. This specialized n8n workflow solves this by fully automating the data extraction and CRM update process. The flexibility built into this n8n node structure allows the workflow to be initiated via a schedule (checking for new URLs in Google Sheets), a webhook (integrated into external systems), or a manual n8n trigger for immediate execution.

This robust n8n workflow ensures all extracted data is standardized and cleaned before being logged, providing reliable, high-quality lead information directly into your Google Sheets instance, effectively turning a static sheet into a dynamic CRM system. This approach leverages the power of n8n to connect disparate systems and perform complex data handling tasks automatically.

How it Works

This powerful n8n workflow supports three distinct input methods: a periodic n8n trigger via the Schedule node, a Webhook trigger for real-time external integration, or the Manual Trigger node for testing.

  1. Input Handling: If triggered by the Schedule n8n node, it uses the Google Sheets n8n node to 'Read LinkedIn URLs'. All inputs are routed through the 'Process All Input Sources' Code n8n node, which aggregates and standardizes the data using the 'Format Input Data' Set n8n node.

  2. Batch Check: The 'Check Batch Processing' If n8n node determines if the input contains a single URL or a list. If a list is present, the 'Split Batch URLs' Code n8n node splits the list for iteration.

  3. Scraping Execution: The 'Scrape LinkedIn Profile' HTTP Request n8n node is the core function, executing an API call to a designated scraping service (e.g., Apify) using the LinkedIn URL.

  4. Data Enrichment: The resulting raw profile data is then passed to the 'Process Profile Data' Code n8n node, where logic for scoring, cleaning, and formatting the lead data is applied.

  5. CRM Update: The 'Route to Google Sheets' If n8n node ensures the processed data is ready for storage. The 'Add to Google Sheets CRM' Google Sheets n8n node writes the final, clean lead entry (including profile details, job title, etc.) to the specified sheet and range, completing the cycle of this vital n8n workflow.

  6. Response: If initiated by a webhook, the 'Respond Success' n8n node confirms the execution.

Installation Guide

To deploy this comprehensive n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Copy the provided JSON and import it into your n8n instance as a new n8n workflow.

  2. Google Sheets Credentials: Configure the 'Read LinkedIn URLs' and 'Add to Google Sheets CRM' Google Sheets n8n node instances. You will need to create and link a Google Sheets credential that has permissions to read and write to your desired CRM spreadsheet.

  3. Scraping API Setup: The 'Scrape LinkedIn Profile' HTTP Request n8n node requires credentials (usually an API key) for your chosen LinkedIn scraping service (like Apify). Update the headers and body of this n8n node with your specific service parameters and API key.

  4. Webhook Activation (Optional): If using the Webhook n8n trigger, activate the workflow and copy the unique webhook URL generated by the 'Webhook Input' n8n node. Use this URL to trigger the workflow from external applications.

  5. Activation: Set the workflow to 'Active' to enable the scheduled checks or external triggers.

Node Details

Manual Trigger / Schedule Trigger / Webhook Input: These are the primary n8n trigger mechanisms. The Schedule n8n node allows recurring checks (e.g., every hour) for new URLs in Google Sheets.
Read LinkedIn URLs (Google Sheets): Reads the initial list of URLs from a designated source sheet row/column to feed into the n8n workflow.
Process All Input Sources (Code): A critical custom n8n node that handles logic for unifying data coming from potentially three different n8n trigger types (manual, scheduled, or webhook payload) into a single standard format.
Format Input Data (Set): Standardizes the key fields necessary for the scraping step, ensuring the downstream HTTP Request n8n node receives consistent input.
Check Batch Processing (If): A flow control n8n node that checks the quantity of input items to determine if batch splitting is necessary, optimizing the execution of the n8n workflow.
Scrape LinkedIn Profile (HTTP Request): Sends the standardized URL to a third-party scraping API, which returns detailed profile data. This is a crucial data acquisition n8n node.
Process Profile Data (Code): Handles data parsing, validation, and enrichment (e.g., scoring or cleaning text fields) before insertion into the CRM. This custom n8n node ensures data quality.
Add to Google Sheets CRM (Google Sheets): The final output n8n node, appending or updating rows in the target Google Sheet with the comprehensive lead data generated by this n8n workflow.
