Overview

Scaling high-quality SEO content is a major challenge. This specialized n8n workflow provides a comprehensive solution by combining structured data management (Google Sheets) with advanced AI agents (Anthropic and Gemini) and custom enrichment tools (internal linking, HTML conversion). This n8n workflow acts as a complete content assembly line. It significantly reduces manual review time by ensuring the generated draft is immediately enriched with existing internal links and converted into an SEO-optimized HTML format, ready for direct posting via the WordPress REST API. Every step is tracked in Google Sheets, making this n8n template invaluable for teams focused on efficiency and transparency.

How it Works

The entire process is initiated by an external event that triggers the Webhook1 n8n trigger.

  1. Trigger and Data Retrieval: The workflow starts, retrieving initial content parameters (topic, keywords) from a source Google Sheet using the Get Info n8n node. The status is immediately updated in the sheet via the Update status n8n node.

  2. AI Outline Generation: The n8n template then proceeds to the core generation phase. The Content Outline Generator & On-page agent, powered by the Anthropic Chat Model1 and utilizing an external PerplexitySonarPro1 tool for real-time information retrieval, generates a detailed SEO-optimized draft and outline. Simultaneously, Short Description (using Google Gemini) creates the meta description.

  3. Draft Storage and Tracking: The output is saved into a Google Doc using the Create Docs: Save Content n8n node and tracked in Google Sheets using the Update to Sheet n8n node.

  4. SEO Enrichment: To enhance SEO, the workflow fetches previous post data via Previous Posts1. The Add Internal Links chain (powered by Google Gemini) embeds relevant internal links into the draft. The content is then converted into ready-to-publish, clean HTML using the HTML Version chain (also powered by Google Gemini).

  5. Media Sourcing: The workflow sources or triggers the generation of cover and interior images using Image Covers1 (an HTTP Request) and coordinates data from Google Sheets3. Code and Split Out n8n nodes handle the processing and parallel fetching of image URLs.

  6. Final Publishing: All components (HTML content, short description, and image data) are merged. An HTTP Request9 node makes the final POST request to the WordPress API, publishing the content.

  7. Completion: Finally, the Update Status to Sheet n8n node records the outcome of the publication, completing the flow of this powerful n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

To deploy this n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import the JSON: Copy the provided n8n workflow JSON and paste it into your n8n instance using the 'New' button and selecting 'Import from JSON'.

  2. Configure Credentials: You must configure credentials for the following services:

Google Sheets: Required for four separate Google Sheets n8n node operations (Get Info, Update status, Update to Sheet, Update Status to Sheet, and Google Sheets3).
Google Docs: Required for fetching outlines and saving generated content.
Anthropic AI: Needed for the Anthropic Chat Model1 LangChain n8n node.
Google Gemini: Needed for the three Gemini LangChain n8n nodes.
Perplexity/Custom API: Configure the credentials for the PerplexitySonarPro1 HTTP Request Tool.
WordPress REST API: The final HTTP Request9 n8n node requires the necessary credentials (e.g., Bearer Token or Basic Auth) and the correct endpoint URL to publish the post.

  1. Set Webhook: Activate the Webhook1 n8n trigger and copy the test or production URL for external triggering.

  2. Customize Nodes: Review the Google Sheets nodes to ensure the Spreadsheet ID, sheet name, and column mappings match your content tracking setup. Adjust AI prompts within the LangChain n8n nodes for desired tone and SEO requirements.

Node Details

Webhook1 (n8n trigger): Serves as the starting point, listening for an external signal to begin the automated content creation process.
Google Sheets (Get Info, Update status, etc.): Multiple Google Sheets n8n node instances are used for fetching initial data, tracking content status, and retrieving previous post URLs for internal linking suggestions.
Content Outline Generator & On-page (LangChain Agent): This highly specialized n8n node uses a robust agent structure, leveraging Anthropic AI and a tool (PerplexitySonarPro1) to generate comprehensive, data-backed SEO content outlines.
Anthropic Chat Model1 & Google Gemini Chat Model(s): These are the core large language model components. The n8n workflow intelligently uses different models for specific tasks: Anthropic for primary drafting, and Gemini for refinement (like generating short descriptions, adding internal links, and HTML conversion).
Google Docs (Fetch Outline, Create Docs): Manages the reading of initial templates and the saving of the draft output before final processing.
Add Internal Links (LangChain LLM Chain): An essential SEO n8n node that integrates context (previous posts from Google Sheets) with the generated content to automatically insert relevant internal links.
HTML Version (LangChain LLM Chain): Converts the final content structure into publication-ready HTML, ensuring optimal formatting for WordPress.
HTTP Request nodes (e.g., Image Covers1, HTTP Request9): Used extensively for media sourcing and, critically, the final publication step to the WordPress REST API. This shows the versatility of the n8n node selection in the n8n template.

  • Code and Split Out n8n node: Used for complex data manipulation, especially in processing image URLs fetched from multiple sources prior to aggregation.
