Overview

Maintaining clean data is crucial for effective marketing. This specialized n8n workflow addresses the challenge of poor data quality often submitted via web forms. By acting as an intermediary between your WordPress form and Mautic CRM, this n8n automation validates critical lead data (specifically email format) immediately upon submission.

The value provided by this n8n workflow is two-fold: it ensures every successful submission is logged in Mautic, and it leverages the power of an n8n node to perform instant email validation. If the email format is structurally invalid, the system automatically creates the contact but then instantly uses another Mautic n8n node to flag the lead as 'Do Not Contact' (DNC), preventing false engagement metrics and protecting your sending reputation. This robust n8n template saves time and improves CRM hygiene.

How it Works

This powerful n8n workflow initiates instantly via a custom webhook acting as the primary n8n trigger.

  1. Trigger and Ingestion: The WordpressForm webhook n8n trigger receives a POST request containing lead data (Name, Email, WhatsApp) from the WordPress submission.

  2. Data Normalization and Validation: The LeadData n8n node processes and cleans the data. It converts the name to Title Case, the email to lowercase, and utilizes an n8n expression (.isEmail()) to generate a boolean flag (emailvalid) for flow control later in the n8n workflow. This is a critical step for data preparation.

  3. CRM Contact Creation: The data is passed to the CreateContactMautic n8n node, which attempts to create the contact in Mautic using the normalized lead details.

  4. Validation Check (Conditional Logic): The CheckEmailValid If n8n node immediately evaluates the emailvalid flag generated in step 2.

  5. Invalid Path Handling: If the email validation fails (False path), the n8n workflow proceeds to the LeadMauticDNC Mautic n8n node. This specialized n8n node updates the contact record created in step 3, setting their status to 'Do Not Contact' with a specific note regarding the validation failure, effectively isolating bad data. The n8n workflow concludes after this action.

Installation Guide

To deploy this efficient n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Copy the provided JSON data and paste it directly into your n8n instance under the 'Workflows' section using the 'New' -> 'Import from JSON' option.

  2. Webhook Setup: Open the WordpressForm n8n node. Save the workflow and activate it to generate a unique webhook URL. Configure your WordPress form handler (e.g., using a plugin like CF7 or Elementor) to send POST requests to this specific n8n trigger URL.

  3. Credential Configuration: Update the CreateContactMautic and LeadMauticDNC n8n node credentials. Click the 'Credentials' field within these Mautic n8n nodes and establish a connection to your Mautic API instance. Ensure the Mautic connection details are correctly entered.

  4. Activation: Ensure the entire n8n workflow is activated to begin processing form submissions.

Node Details

WordpressForm (Webhook Trigger n8n node):
Function: Serves as the primary n8n trigger, waiting for a POST request containing form submission data from WordPress.
Key Configuration: Configured to listen on a specific path (917366ee-14a8-4fef-9f0b-6638cdc35fad) using the POST method.

LeadData (Set n8n node):
