What is Altitude Shifter?

Altitude Shifter helps you re-pitch the same source content for four distinct audiences — the board, engineers, customers, and new hires — while preserving factual consistency across all versions.

In Openclaw Skills, it turns one memo, update, decision, or announcement into audience-specific copy that emphasizes the right load-bearing details at each altitude. Instead of merely shortening a draft, it reframes the content so each audience gets the facts they need, the context they lack, and none of the details that would break clarity or trust. It also exposes its reasoning with a delta table and leakage check, making the transformation inspectable rather than opaque.

Altitude Shifter Use Cases

  • Rewriting a decision memo for executives so they get the decision, risk, ask, and number fast.
  • Translating implementation context for engineers so they understand constraints, interfaces, deadlines, and what is not changing.
  • Turning internal updates into customer-facing language with zero jargon, org-chart language, or process noise.
  • Onboarding a new hire with the missing history, expanded acronyms, ownership, and why the work matters.
  • Handling spin-adjacent drafts where the underlying facts must stay true even as emphasis changes.
  • Using Openclaw Skills when you need inspectable rewrites instead of a single compressed summary.

How Altitude Shifter Works

  1. Ingest the source content and identify the true underlying facts that must stay consistent across every version.
  2. Ask for any missing inputs: the desired altitudes, confidential items that must not leak, and any context needed to avoid distortion.
  3. Generate four audience-specific versions with altitude-aware length discipline and the right load-bearing details for each reader.
  4. Build a delta table that explains what was cut, what was added, and what was reframed for each altitude.
  5. Run a leakage check to catch jargon that slipped downhill, bad news that softened on the way up, or internal blame that leaked out.
  6. Validate the result against the quality gates so all versions remain simultaneously true, even though they emphasize different facts.

Altitude Shifter Setup

  1. Enable Altitude Shifter in your Openclaw Skills environment.
  2. Gather the source memo, update, decision, or announcement you want to shift.
  3. If the draft is spin-adjacent, provide the underlying facts rather than only the polished copy.
  4. Choose the altitudes to generate; the default is all four.
  5. Flag confidential items such as names, numbers, or legal exposure that must not leak.
  6. Ask for the four rewrites, the delta table, and the leakage check in a single pass.

Altitude Shifter Data Schema & Taxonomy

Altitude Shifter uses a simple, inspectable structure:

Field / Artifact Type Purpose
source_content raw text The memo, update, decision, or announcement to shift
underlying_facts raw text or notes Ground truth that must remain consistent across altitudes
altitudes enum set Which versions to generate; default is board, engineering, customer, new hire
confidentiality_flags list Names, numbers, or legal exposure that must not leak
board_version markdown section Decision, risk, ask, and number
engineering_version markdown section Constraints, interfaces, non-changes, and deadline rationale
customer_version markdown section Benefit in customer language with zero internal jargon
new_hire_version markdown section History, expanded acronyms, ownership, and context
delta_table markdown table Cut / added / reframed by altitude
leakage_check checklist Jargon, softened bad news, internal blame, and missing context
quality_checks checklist Altitude fit, cross-version truth, and inspectability

Taxonomy

  • Altitude dimension: board | engineering | customer | new_hire
  • Change types: cut | added | reframed
  • Risk flags: jargon_leakage | softened_bad_news | internal_blame | inconsistent_fact
  • Quality gates: actability, startability, forwardability, understanding-why

The skill itself emits one Markdown response; it does not create sidecar files unless the caller saves the result.

Altitude Shifter Advanced Features

  • Preserves truth while changing emphasis, not facts.
  • Generates an auditable delta table for every altitude shift.
  • Leakage detection catches jargon, blame, softened bad news, and missing context.
  • Applies altitude-specific length discipline without flattening meaning.
  • Supports partial altitude selection when you do not need all four versions.
  • Fits Openclaw Skills workflows where inspectability and consistency matter.
