What is Archive Project?

The Archive Project skill is a specialized tool designed for Openclaw Skills users who need to maintain a clean workspace without losing historical context. It automates the transition from active development to long-term storage by capturing project deliverables, subagent logs, and critical decision-making rationale into a structured local directory.

Built with privacy as a priority, the skill ensures that all archived data remains within the internal workspace. It features a robust, deterministic sanitization engine that automatically scrubs sensitive information like API keys, credentials, and personal contact details from session transcripts before they are stored, making it safe for future internal retrospectives.

Archive Project Use Cases

  • Finalizing a software project and moving all related agent transcripts to a structured backup.
  • Generating a post-mortem or retrospective document that captures 'why' technical decisions were made.
  • Cleaning up active agent session files from local storage or EFS mounts after project delivery.
  • Maintaining a searchable internal knowledge base of past projects and their specific deliverables.

How Archive Project Works

  1. User triggers the archival process via a natural language command like "archive this" or a dedicated slash command.
  2. The skill creates a structured directory within workspace/projects/ including folders for deliverables and subagent sessions.
  3. It automatically identifies and collects the main session transcript and all related child subagent JSONL files.
  4. A mandatory sanitization script is executed to redact API keys, IP addresses, and personal information from the transcripts.
  5. The skill generates an ARCHIVE.md and decisions.md based on pre-defined templates, prompting the user for decision rationale.
  6. After optional user approval to delete original session files, it performs a local Git commit to secure the archive within the workspace.

Archive Project Setup

Install directly via the Openclaw Skills manager:

openclaw skills install archive-project
# or
clawhub install archive-project

Option 2: Manual Installation

Clone the repository into your local skills directory:

git clone https://github.com/KaigeGao1110/ArchiveProject.git ~/.openclaw/skills/archive-project

Archive Project Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes data into a consistent hierarchy within the internal workspace to ensure long-term searchability:

File/Folder Description
ARCHIVE.md The master index containing summaries, timelines, and reconstruction guides.
session_transcript.jsonl The sanitized, redacted log of the main agent communication.
subagent_sessions/ A directory containing all sanitized child agent logs.
deliverables/ A folder dedicated to the final output files and reports.
decisions.md A detailed log of technical options explored and the final rationale.

Archive Project Advanced Features

  • Multi-agent session collection: Automatically crawls JSONL metadata to find and back up all related subagent transcripts.
  • Deterministic Sanitization: A Python-based redaction engine that scrubs GitHub tokens, OpenAI keys, AWS credentials, and more.
  • Approval-gated cleanup: Never deletes source session files from EFS/storage without explicit user confirmation.
  • Custom Template Support: Uses structured Markdown templates for ARCHIVE.md to ensure consistency across all archived Openclaw Skills projects.
