What is Barcode Inquiry?

Barcode Inquiry is a robust tool within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem designed for developers and businesses needing automated barcode handling. It leverages the professional JisuAPI to provide two core capabilities: generating high-resolution barcode images in base64 format and recognizing barcode content from provided URLs or raw image data. By integrating this skill, AI agents can seamlessly bridge the gap between physical inventory tracking and digital data management.

This skill supports an extensive range of industry-standard formats including EAN13, Code128, QR-related formats, and specialized codes like ISBN or GS1128. Whether you are building an e-commerce automation tool or a logistics assistant, Barcode Inquiry provides the necessary technical infrastructure to handle barcode lifecycles within the Openclaw Skills framework.

Barcode Inquiry Use Cases

  • Automating the creation of product labels for e-commerce listings using EAN13 or UPCA.
  • Extracting product IDs from photos of physical barcodes for inventory auditing.
  • Generating shipping labels with specific height, DPI, and scale requirements.
  • Integrating barcode scanning capabilities into AI-driven mobile or web applications.
  • Converting legacy barcode numbers into digital image assets for documentation.

How Barcode Inquiry Works

  1. The user provides a request to either generate a barcode or read an existing one through the AI agent interface.
  2. For generation, the skill sends parameters like barcode type, number, and styling (DPI, height) to the JisuAPI endpoint.
  3. For recognition, the skill uploads a image URL or base64 string to the recognition engine.
  4. The JisuAPI processes the request and returns either a base64 encoded image string or a JSON array containing the recognized barcode type and number.
  5. The Openclaw Skills agent parses this response and delivers the result (image or text) back to the user or subsequent workflow step.

Barcode Inquiry Setup

To use this skill, you must obtain an API Key from JisuAPI and configure your environment.

  1. Register at JisuAPI.
  2. Apply for the Barcode Generation and Recognition API.
  3. Retrieve your AppKey from the Member Center.
  4. Set the environment variable:
# Linux / macOS
export JISU_API_KEY="your_appkey_here"

# Windows PowerShell
$env:JISU_API_KEY="your_appkey_here"

Barcode Inquiry Data Schema & Taxonomy
