What is bingo-email?

bingo-email is a full-featured email management tool built on Python IMAPClient and smtplib, designed to integrate seamlessly with automated workflows. This skill enables AI agents to perform complex email operations such as reading, sending, replying, and forwarding messages across various providers including Tencent Exmail, Gmail, and Outlook. By focusing on reliability and ease of use, it serves as a robust component within the ecosystem of Openclaw Skills.

The tool is specifically engineered to handle regional requirements, such as the RFC 2971 IMAP ID command required by NetEase 126/163 mail, and ensures Chinese characters remain uncorrupted by using base64 encoding for drafts. It eliminates the need for complex external binary dependencies like himalaya CLI, providing a pure Python solution that is easy to customize and deploy in any developer environment.

bingo-email Use Cases

  • Automating email classification and organization into custom folders
  • Batch processing of unread messages for summary reports
  • Generating AI-powered draft responses for customer service or internal follow-ups
  • Managing professional communications across multiple accounts from a single interface
  • Integrating email triggers and responses into larger devops or productivity pipelines

How bingo-email Works

  1. The skill performs a non-interactive environment check using the check command to ensure dependencies and configurations are valid.
  2. Upon a user request, it establishes a secure connection to the configured IMAP server (using TLS or STARTTLS).
  3. For reading tasks, it fetches and parses email structures, handling attachments and body encoding (including base64 for special characters).
  4. For sending or replying, it constructs a MIME message, automatically managing In-Reply-To and References headers for proper thread grouping.
  5. It interacts with the SMTP server to deliver the message and optionally moves the record to the Sent Messages or Drafts folder.

bingo-email Setup

To integrate this tool into your library of Openclaw Skills, follow these installation steps:

# Install the core dependency
pip3 install imapclient

# Initialize the configuration wizard to set up your email provider
python3 scripts/bingo_email.py init

# Verify your connection status
python3 scripts/bingo_email.py test

bingo-email Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes its configuration and metadata using a localized TOML structure with strict file permissions.

Component Path / Detail Purpose
Configuration ~/.config/bingo-email/config.toml Stores account, IMAP, and SMTP settings
Permissions 600 (Owner Read/Write) Automatically applied to secure sensitive credentials
Drafts Base64 Encoded Ensures non-ASCII character integrity in draft folders
Metadata In-Reply-To / References Ensures threading continuity across email clients

bingo-email Advanced Features

  • Smart Reply-All functionality that intelligently excludes the sender's own address
  • RFC 2971 support for 126 and 163 mailboxes via specialized IMAP ID mode
  • Inline quote generation for replies using standard markdown-friendly formatting
  • Automated diagnostic mode for AI agents to self-repair configuration issues before execution
  • Full folder management including move and delete operations mapped to standard IMAP flags
