What is bird?

The bird skill is a specialized utility designed for developers and power users who prefer interacting with X (formerly Twitter) through a terminal interface. Built to integrate with Openclaw Skills, it provides a streamlined way to consume social media content and engage with audiences without the distractions of a web browser.

By leveraging existing browser cookies or the Sweetistics API, bird bypasses traditional API limitations for basic read and search tasks. It serves as a bridge between your local environment and your social presence, making it an essential tool for those building automated monitoring or posting workflows.

bird Use Cases

  • Monitoring specific X threads for research or data collection.
  • Searching for niche topics or mentions using advanced query parameters via CLI.
  • Posting quick status updates or replies directly from your development environment.
  • Verifying account status and active authentication sources for social media automation.

How bird Works

  1. The skill initializes by communicating with the OpenClawProvider to establish a secure environment.
  2. It identifies available authentication sources by checking local browser cookies from Chrome or Firefox, or by referencing a Sweetistics API key.
  3. When a search or read command is issued, the skill fetches data based on tweet IDs or URLs.
  4. For posting actions, the skill constructs the tweet payload and prompts the user for confirmation to prevent accidental broadcasts.
  5. Resulting data is rendered directly in the terminal for immediate consumption or redirection to other tools.

bird Setup

To utilize bird, you must first ensure that the OpenClawProvider is active on your system.
