What is buffy-agent?

buffy-agent is a comprehensive personal behavior engine designed to streamline habit formation and task management through natural language. As a versatile member of the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, it allows users to create and track up to 25 habits, 100 tasks, and 15 routines without any paid tiers. The skill acts as a secure HTTP client for the Buffy API, enabling AI agents to process user requests for reminders and progress summaries across platforms like ChatGPT, Telegram, and Slack.

Built for high observability and flexibility, buffy-agent supports hook-based systems for logging and error tracking. It simplifies complex scheduling by understanding plain language, removing the need for rigid forms or menus. Whether you are managing personal fitness goals or coordinating team energy through the built-in clan features, this skill provides a unified interface for behavioral automation.

buffy-agent Use Cases

  • Creating recurring habits like drinking water or stretching through natural language commands.
  • Managing daily todo lists and marking tasks as complete within a chat interface.
  • Setting up complex routines with scheduled reminders for morning or evening activities.
  • Tracking team progress and shared energy via the integrated clan and boss fight mechanics.
  • Receiving automated daily briefings to stay updated on pending tasks and habit streaks.

How buffy-agent Works

  1. The user sends a natural language request related to habits or tasks to the AI agent.
  2. The agent invokes the buffy-agent skill, which formats the request into a JSON payload for the Buffy API.
  3. The skill sends a POST request to the /v1/message endpoint, including the user's message and a stable user ID.
  4. The Buffy backend processes the logic, updates the behavioral database, and generates a personalized reply.
  5. The skill receives the API response and surfaces the natural language reply back to the user.
  6. Optional hooks can trigger secondary actions, such as logging the interaction or dispatching notifications to external channels.

buffy-agent Setup

To integrate this skill into your environment, ensure you have a valid API key and update your configuration.

  1. Obtain your API key from the Buffy service.
  2. Set the environment variable:
export BUFFY_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
  1. Add the skill to your ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json:

        }
      }
