What is Clawdgle?

Clawdgle is a powerful utility within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem that provides a search engine interface specifically optimized for markdown content. Unlike traditional search engines, Clawdgle focuses on the structured data formats that AI agents and LLMs consume most effectively. It allows users to query indexed markdown, scrape specific URLs into markdown format, and even request real-time indexing of new resources.

By integrating this skill, developers can enhance their agents' research capabilities, ensuring they always have access to clean, readable documentation and web content. This makes Clawdgle an essential tool for those building data-driven Openclaw Skills that require high-quality source material without the clutter of HTML or CSS.

Clawdgle Use Cases

  • Searching for technical documentation or articles in structured markdown format.
  • Retrieving the markdown representation of a specific web URL for LLM processing.
  • Triggering the indexing of new websites to expand the searchable knowledge base.
  • Integrating automated research steps into AI agent workflows using Openclaw Skills.

How Clawdgle Works

  1. The user or agent initiates a search query or provides a target URL via the API.
  2. The skill interacts with the Clawdgle public API endpoints using standard HTTP methods.
  3. For searches, Clawdgle returns a list of indexed markdown resources matching the query parameters.
  4. For document retrieval, the skill fetches the pre-parsed markdown version of the requested URL.
  5. For ingestion, the skill submits a URL to the Clawdgle queue for processing and future indexing.

Clawdgle Setup

To use Clawdgle with your agent, ensure your environment can make outbound HTTP requests to the base URL https://clawdgle.com. No authentication is currently required for public endpoints. You can test the integration using these commands:

# Search for content via CLI
curl "https://clawdgle.com/search?q=openclaw%20skills&page=1"

# Request a document ingest
curl -X POST "https://clawdgle.com/ingest" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"url":"https://example.com"}'

Clawdgle Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill manages data related to search queries and document indexing. The API handles parameters and returns data as follows:

Parameter Description
query (q) The search string, which must be URL encoded for transmission.
page The results page number for paginated search queries.
url The target encoded URL used for fetching markdown or requesting an ingest.
ingest_payload A JSON object containing the URL, an optional reason, and contact info.
donate A simple endpoint to direct users to support the service development.

Clawdgle Advanced Features

  • Self-serve indexing to ensure Openclaw Skills have access to the latest web data.
  • Optimized markdown-first responses that reduce token usage for LLM agents.
  • Support for pagination to efficiently browse through deep search result sets.
  • URL-specific document retrieval for targeted data extraction and research.
