What is ClawHub CLI?

The ClawHub CLI is the core orchestration tool designed to manage the lifecycle of Openclaw Skills. It serves as a bridge between the local agent environment and the central registry, allowing developers to extend their AI agents with new capabilities on the fly. By leveraging this tool, users can ensure their agent workflows remain modular and up-to-date.

Built for high-velocity development, it supports everything from simple skill discovery to complex version pinning. Whether you are building a custom agent or utilizing community-contributed tools, the ClawHub CLI provides the standard interface for handling Openclaw Skills across any local or cloud-based workspace.

ClawHub CLI Use Cases

  • Installing specific Openclaw Skills to extend an AI agent's functionality.
  • Syncing all local skills to their latest versions using hash-based matching.
  • Publishing custom-built skills to clawhub.com for community use.
  • Managing version-specific dependencies for stable agent deployments.
  • Searching for domain-specific skills like database backups or web scraping tools directly from the terminal.

How ClawHub CLI Works

  1. The user initiates a search or install command targeting the clawhub.com registry.
  2. For installations, the CLI fetches the skill package and places it in the designated local skills directory.
  3. For updates, the CLI performs a hash-based match of local files to identify current versions and resolves the delta with the remote registry.
  4. During publication, the CLI packages the local folder, validates metadata, and pushes the new version to the Openclaw Skills ecosystem.
  5. The tool utilizes environment variables or flags to maintain context over workspaces and registries.

ClawHub CLI Setup

To get started with managing your Openclaw Skills, install the CLI via npm:

npm i -g clawhub

To publish skills, you must authenticate your session:

clawhub login
clawhub whoami
