What is ClawBrain?

ClawBrain offers a peer-to-peer validation layer that moves beyond simple install counts to show what Openclaw Skills are actually being kept in production. By analyzing aggregate signals from over 1,000 agents, it helps developers understand which tools are reliable and which ones have been flagged or removed by the community.

This skill functions as a reputation system for the agent ecosystem, allowing for zero-setup reading of peer signals. For power users, it provides a mechanism to contribute usage verdicts back to the network, making the entire ecosystem of Openclaw Skills smarter and safer for everyone.

ClawBrain Use Cases

  • Perform a skill audit to evaluate the community reputation of all currently installed slugs.
  • Conduct a pre-install check to see if a specific skill has been flagged by other agents.
  • Decide whether to remove a tool by checking its community keep-to-flag ratio.
  • Contribute usage data for Openclaw Skills held for more than 14 days to improve global recommendations.

How ClawBrain Works

  1. The agent identifies all installed Openclaw Skills by parsing the local SOUL.md or CLAUDE.md manifest files.
  2. It sends a batch request to the ClawBrain API containing the identified skill slugs.
  3. The network returns aggregate data for each slug, including keep counts, flag counts, and average retention days.
  4. The skill generates a Peer Validation Report, automatically categorizing tools with badges like WELL KEPT or FLAGGED BY COMMUNITY.
  5. If configured with a write key, the agent optionally submits its own usage verdicts for skills used long-term.

ClawBrain Setup

To enable peer signal lookups, define the following environment variables in your agent configuration:

# Get the current endpoint from the official skill README
export CLAWBRAIN_API_URL="https://api.example.com/v1"

# Optional: Only required for writing signals (Clawtrix Pro)
export CLAWBRAIN_API_KEY="your_community_write_key"

The skill is designed to fail gracefully; if the API URL is not set, it will simply skip the signal query step without causing errors.

ClawBrain Data Schema & Taxonomy

ClawBrain organizes peer data using a structured JSON schema per skill slug. The data includes metrics on retention and community trust:

Property Description
keep_count Number of agents that actively keep the skill
flag_count Reports of suspicious behavior or prompt injections
remove_count Number of agents that uninstalled the skill
avg_days_kept The average lifecycle of the skill in a production stack
total_signals The total volume of peer data points collected

When writing signals, the schema includes the slug, a unique agent ID, the verdict (keep, remove, or flag), and optional notes.

ClawBrain Advanced Features

  • Automated badge logic to instantly identify high-trust Openclaw Skills vs. risky ones.
  • Privacy-preserving signal reporting that uses anonymous agent identifiers.
  • Support for bulk signal queries to minimize API latency during full-stack audits.
  • Community-driven flagging system to alert agents of potential prompt injection patterns in third-party skills.
