What is Column?

This skill enables AI agents to interact directly with Column, a premier platform for building fintech applications. By leveraging Openclaw Skills, developers can bypass the complexities of manual authentication and API plumbing. The integration relies on Membrane to manage credentials and refresh tokens, allowing the agent to focus entirely on data manipulation and workflow automation.

The skill provides a standardized interface for your AI workflows, whether you are managing tables, views, or complex fintech integrations. It effectively bridges the gap between autonomous agents and financial data structures, ensuring that every interaction is secure, authenticated, and logged through the Openclaw Skills ecosystem.

Column Use Cases

  • Automating record creation and data updates within Column tables.
  • Synchronizing financial ledger data with other productivity tools using Openclaw Skills.
  • Building autonomous agents that can query and report on Column views.
  • Triggering complex fintech workflows and managing dashboards programmatically.

How Column Works

  1. The agent initializes the environment by installing the Membrane CLI to interface with the Column API.
  2. A secure connection is established using the Openclaw Skills login process to handle authentication.
  3. The agent searches for specific intents or actions using natural language queries to discover available Column capabilities.
  4. Specific Column actions are executed, or raw API requests are proxied through Membrane's secure gateway to perform CRUD operations.
  5. Structured data is returned to the agent, allowing for seamless integration into broader Openclaw Skills workflows.

Column Setup

Install the Membrane CLI to enable Column interactions within your Openclaw Skills environment:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate the agent (replace openclaw with your specific agent type if needed):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Create a connection to Column:

membrane connection ensure "https://column.com/" --json

Poll the connection until the state is READY:

membrane connection get <id> --wait --json

Column Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill utilizes a structured metadata taxonomy to organize actions and responses. Each action discovered via Openclaw Skills includes:

Attribute Description
id Unique identifier for the Column action
name Display name of the functionality
inputSchema JSON Schema defining required parameters
outputSchema JSON Schema defining the returned data structure

All proxied requests automatically include necessary headers and base URLs managed by the Openclaw Skills infrastructure.

Column Advanced Features

  • Automatic credential management and server-side token refresh.
  • Natural language action discovery to map user intent to Column API endpoints.
  • Direct API proxying for advanced users needing access to the full Column specification.
  • Support for headless environments, allowing Openclaw Skills to operate on remote servers via CLI-based auth codes.
