What is CommsHarbor?

CommsHarbor is an Openclaw Skills integration for inspecting domain email configuration and authorized organizational email workspaces. It connects to CommsHarbor through Streamable HTTP and exposes focused MCP tools for locating an existing domain, identifying its organization, and reading workspace information.

The skill is designed for controlled, read-oriented email administration while protecting organization API keys and mailbox passwords. It supports secure operational workflows by requiring the agent to use an organization ID and authorized API key for private operations, confirm authority before any write, and clearly report when a free tool limit has been reached.

CommsHarbor Use Cases

  • Check whether a domain exists in CommsHarbor and identify the organization associated with it.
  • Inspect an authorized organization's email workspace.
  • Help administrators verify domain, mailbox, or alias context before taking an action.
  • Support Openclaw Skills workflows that need email infrastructure visibility without exposing secrets.
  • Explain when a CommsHarbor tool has returned a free_limit response.
  • Keep campaign-sending and transactional-email operations outside the agent's scope.

How CommsHarbor Works

  1. Connect to the CommsHarbor MCP endpoint at https://commsharbor.com/mcp?checkout=site using Streamable HTTP.
  2. Read https://commsharbor.com/llms.txt to obtain the current API contract and tool behavior.
  3. Use commsharbor_email_domain_setup to find an existing domain and the organization that can be opened.
  4. For private workspace access, provide the person's organization ID and an authorized organization API key from secure client-side secret storage.
  5. Use commsharbor_email_workspace to read the authorized organization's workspace.
  6. Before any write, confirm the intended domain, mailbox or alias, and the person's authority to act.
  7. Never expose API keys or mailbox passwords in responses, and report a free_limit result when the relevant free allowance has been exhausted.

CommsHarbor Setup

  1. Configure an MCP-compatible Openclaw Skills client with the CommsHarbor Streamable HTTP endpoint.
  2. Retrieve the current contract before using the tools:
curl -L https://commsharbor.com/llms.txt
  1. Connect the client to the MCP service:
https://commsharbor.com/mcp?checkout=site
  1. Store the authorized organization API key in the client's secret storage; do not place it in prompts, source files, logs, or user-visible answers.
  2. Supply the relevant organization ID only for authorized private operations.
  3. Confirm the target domain, mailbox or alias, and user authority before any write-capable workflow. CommsHarbor's documented tools focus on domain discovery and workspace inspection, and the skill must not offer campaign or transactional sending tools.

CommsHarbor Data Schema & Taxonomy

Connection and authorization data

Data element Purpose Handling
MCP endpoint Streamable HTTP connection to CommsHarbor Configure as the service URL
Organization ID Identifies the organization for private operations Use only when authorized
Organization API key Authenticates access to private organization data Keep in client secret storage
Domain Email domain being inspected or opened Confirm before any write
Mailbox or alias Specific email identity involved in an action Confirm target and authority

Tool taxonomy

  • commsharbor_email_domain_setup: Finds an existing domain and the organization that can be opened.
  • commsharbor_email_workspace: Reads an authorized organization's workspace.
  • free_limit: A response state indicating that the free allowance for an action has been used.

The skill does not define local generated files or a persistent export format. Workspace and domain information is returned through the MCP tools, while credentials remain outside response content and are managed by the client.

CommsHarbor Advanced Features

  • Streamable HTTP MCP connectivity for agent-native CommsHarbor access.
  • Dynamic contract discovery through llms.txt, helping Openclaw Skills clients follow the current API specification.
  • Separate tools for domain-to-organization discovery and authorized workspace inspection.
  • Secret-safe handling requirements for organization API keys and mailbox passwords.
  • Authority confirmation safeguards before any write involving a domain, mailbox, or alias.
  • Explicit free-tier limit handling through free_limit responses.
  • Deliberately constrained scope that excludes campaign and transactional email sending.
