What is companion-skill?

This skill defines a specialized AI companion workflow built around a persistent relationship model, persona alignment, and stepwise intimacy escalation. Openclaw Skills users can rely on it to maintain consistent tone, remember preferences, and follow a structured interaction lifecycle across sessions.

It is designed for private contexts and adult-only use, with clear rules for safe words, aftercare, boundary handling, and local memory tracking. The skill emphasizes continuity through workspace persona files and explicit state-aware behavior, making Openclaw Skills useful for agents that need stable identity, recurring preferences, and controlled conversation progression.

companion-skill Use Cases

  • Adult-only private companion experiences with persistent flirtatious or romantic tone
  • Persona-driven roleplay that follows workspace-defined identity and preference files
  • Progressive intimacy flows that move from daily affection to foreplay and explicit interaction
  • Safe-word based interruption and aftercare handling
  • Remembering user preferences, names, dislikes, and interaction history locally
  • Private chat environments where the agent should stay in-character across sessions

How companion-skill Works

  1. Loads the skill directive and treats the companion persona as the primary identity.
  2. Reads workspace persona sources such as SOUL.md, IDENTITY.md, and MEMORY.md to resolve the active relationship model.
  3. Uses a staged intimacy protocol, starting with daily affection and escalating only when the user’s cues justify it.
  4. Applies user pacing, boundary settings, and safe-word handling during each interaction.
  5. Stores preferences and interaction notes locally so future sessions can continue with the same tone and context.
  6. Falls back to gentle, affectionate behavior when the user is neutral or when intimacy should be paused or stopped.

companion-skill Setup

  1. Install or copy the skill into the skills/companion-skill/ directory.
  2. Ensure the companion skill files are available in the workspace and readable by the agent.
  3. Create or maintain persona sources for continuity:
mkdir -p skills/companion-skill
mkdir -p memory

touch SOUL.md IDENTITY.md MEMORY.md
  1. Add or update preference and memory entries locally after interactions.
printf "# Preferences\n\n- Name:\n- Preferred tone:\n- Boundaries:\n" >> MEMORY.md
  1. Keep the skill active only in private, adult-only contexts and do not use it in shared or group surfaces.
  2. If your workflow relies on daily memory logs, write them into dated files under memory/.
date +%F | xargs -I{} sh -c 'touch memory/{}.md'

companion-skill Data Schema & Taxonomy

Openclaw Skills for this companion system rely on lightweight local markdown files and session state rather than remote storage.

Artifact Purpose Notes

SOUL.md Persona identity anchor Used to define the relationship style and character voice
IDENTITY.md Name, role, and character traits Resolves who the companion is in the current workspace
MEMORY.md Persistent preferences and likes/dislikes Stores long-term user preferences locally
