What is CredCLI?

CredCLI is a specialized command-line tool designed to automate the issuance of tamper-proof, verifiable credentials such as certificates, badges, and diplomas. By leveraging Openclaw Skills, this agent-ready tool simplifies the complex process of rendering high-quality assets using a headless browser. It integrates natively with Chainletter to provide blockchain-stamping and decentralized storage on IPFS, ensuring that every issued document is authentic and easily verifiable via QR codes or URLs.

The tool is built for developers and organizations that need to scale credential issuance while maintaining high security and professional design. It handles the entire lifecycle of a credential, from template selection and CSV data merging to final delivery via automated emails.

CredCLI Use Cases

  • Issuing digital diplomas and academic transcripts for universities and training centers.
  • Automating achievement badges for online courses and professional certification programs.
  • Distributing verifiable certificates of attendance for large-scale corporate events or webinars.
  • Managing internal employee recognition and skill validation with private, tamper-proof records.

How CredCLI Works

  1. Register the skill using a Chainletter token to establish the tenant context and define the local working directory.
  2. Configure the workspace identity by setting an issuer name and uploading a logo which is auto-injected into every rendered document.
  3. Select a pre-built or custom HTML template and provide a CSV file where the headers match the template's required fields.
  4. Execute the rendering engine to generate unique, personalized PDF or PNG files for every row in the recipient CSV.
  5. Assign the rendering job to a collection and upload the assets to the selected network (Public via IPFS or Private via Chainletter).
  6. Perform blockchain-stamping to create an immutable record and trigger automated claim emails to the recipients.

CredCLI Setup

Install the CLI globally and ensure your environment path is configured correctly to use this among other Openclaw Skills.

npm install -g @credcli/cli --prefix ~/.npm-global
export PATH="$HOME/.npm-global/bin:$PATH"
# Register with your Chainletter token to set tenant context
credcli register https://server.chainletter.io/jwt/your-token-here

Ensure that *.chainletter.io and *.clstamp.com are reachable from your environment for successful registration and stamping.

CredCLI Data Schema & Taxonomy

CredCLI organizes all job-related data within a structured .data/{tenant}/ directory to maintain isolation and portability.

File/Path Purpose
job.json Stores template metadata, field names, and linked collection IDs.
mailmerge.csv Contains the recipient data used for the mail-merge process.
template.html A local copy of the HTML structure used for the credential design.
output/ Contains the final rendered PDF/PNG files and a results.json mapping.
mail_merge/ Stores generated .eml and .mbox files ready for distribution.

CredCLI Advanced Features

  • Public vs. Private Issuance: Toggle between decentralized IPFS storage for public verification or encrypted server-side storage for internal records.
  • Custom HTML Templates: Create bespoke designs with CSS and embedded assets using a specialized metadata header for field discovery.
  • Irreversible Blockchain Stamping: Leverage DLT to provide cryptographic proof of issuance that cannot be tampered with.
  • Integrated SMTP Configuration: Fully manage the delivery layer with support for custom SMTP hosts, secure ports, and authentication.
  • Built-in Web UI: Run credcli serve to access a browser-based template editor with live preview capabilities for rapid design iteration.
