What is Dinobase?

Dinobase is a revolutionary agent-first database designed to bridge the gap between fragmented SaaS APIs and actionable data insights. By syncing data from over 100 sources—including Stripe, HubSpot, and Salesforce—into a high-performance DuckDB instance, it allows developers and AI agents to treat business tools like standard SQL tables. This capability is a cornerstone for advanced Openclaw Skills, enabling complex cross-platform data manipulation without writing custom API integration code.

Whether you are running locally or using the invite-only cloud version, Dinobase provides a unified interface for data discovery, complex joins, and even safe mutations. It simplifies the process of building intelligent workflows that require a holistic view of a company’s operational data, making it an essential tool for modern technical stacks.

Dinobase Use Cases

  • Aggregating data across multiple business tools like CRM, billing, and support systems to answer complex questions.
  • Performing cross-source joins to identify customers with specific attributes across different platforms (e.g., Stripe invoices vs. Zendesk tickets).
  • Querying synced business data using standard SQL syntax for rapid reporting and data exploration.
  • Managing data mutations with a safe preview-and-confirm workflow to write back updates to SaaS APIs.
  • Setting up unified data connections for AI agents to interact with business infrastructure securely.

How Dinobase Works

  1. Initialize the local database environment using the CLI to create a local DuckDB instance.
  2. Discover available data sources and their required credentials via metadata inspection of over 100 supported integrations.
  3. Connect specific SaaS platforms using API keys (local mode) or OAuth (cloud mode) for secure access.
  4. Sync remote data into the local environment to ensure high-speed query performance and data availability.
  5. Use SQL queries to explore, join, and analyze data across all connected schemas in a unified environment.
  6. Execute mutations by reviewing generated previews and confirming changes to safely update remote SaaS sources.

Dinobase Setup

Install the CLI tool using uv to start building with Openclaw Skills:

uv tool install dinobase

Initialize your local database environment:

dinobase init

Connect a data source (e.g., Stripe) using an API key:

dinobase add stripe --api-key sk_live_your_key

Perform an initial sync to populate your tables:

dinobase sync

Verify your setup and view connected sources:

dinobase info

Dinobase Data Schema & Taxonomy

Dinobase organizes data into a schema-per-source taxonomy within a DuckDB environment. This allows for clear separation of concerns while enabling powerful joins.

Level Description Example
Schema The specific SaaS source being queried stripe, hubspot, github
Table The resource within the source customers, deals, issues
Metadata JSON-based source descriptions Auth requirements, CLI flags, descriptions

Users can use dinobase describe <schema>.<table> to inspect specific column types and sample rows for any synced table.

Dinobase Advanced Features

  • Cross-source joins using DuckDB SQL dialect for complex relationship mapping between disparate SaaS platforms.
  • Mutation previews with unique mutation IDs to ensure safe, human-in-the-loop write-backs to SaaS APIs.
  • Headless authentication modes tailored for AI agent interactions and automated CI/CD scripts.
  • Multi-source sync management with staleness indicators and targeted refreshes for specific data sources.
  • Native JSON output for all commands to facilitate seamless integration into automated data pipelines and Openclaw Skills workflows.
