What is Docupilot?

Docupilot is a robust document automation platform that enables users to transform data into professional documents like contracts, proposals, and reports. By utilizing this integration within Openclaw Skills, developers can automate the entire document lifecycle—from managing template folders to merging dynamic data into final outputs.

The skill leverages the Membrane ecosystem to handle the complexities of authentication and credential refreshing, allowing your agent to focus purely on the logic of document creation. This ensures a secure and scalable way to handle high-volume document workflows without manual oversight.

Docupilot Use Cases

  • Automating the generation of legal contracts and NDAs based on client data.
  • Creating personalized sales proposals and business reports programmatically.
  • Organizing document templates into structured folders via agent commands.
  • High-volume batch processing of invoices or certificates from external data sources.

How Docupilot Works

  1. The AI agent initiates the skill using the Membrane CLI to establish a secure environment.
  2. Authentication is handled via a tenant-based login flow that connects the agent to the Docupilot workspace.
  3. The agent searches for specific actions, such as generating a document or listing templates, using natural language intent discovery.
  4. Once a connection is established and ready, the agent executes the desired action with JSON-formatted parameters.
  5. For specialized requirements, the agent can use the proxy request feature to communicate directly with the Docupilot API with managed headers.

Docupilot Setup

To get started with this skill for Openclaw Skills, follow these steps:

Install the CLI globally:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Log in and specify your agent type:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Establish a connection to the Docupilot application:

membrane connection ensure "https://docupilot.app" --json

If the connection state is BUILDING, poll for completion:

npx @membranehq/cli connection get <id> --wait --json

Docupilot Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Docupilot skill organizes data around templates and delivery workflows. Below is a breakdown of the primary data entities:

Entity Description
Template The core blueprint containing merge tags and layout configurations.
Folder Logical containers used to organize multiple templates within a workspace.
Merge History A log of data points injected into templates for past document generations.
Connection Metadata representing the authenticated session, including status and client actions.
Action Schema JSON-based input and output definitions for every automated task.

Docupilot Advanced Features

  • Direct Proxy Access: Send custom HTTP requests to the Docupilot API while Openclaw Skills manages the base URL and authentication.
  • Natural Language Intent Discovery: Use the action list command to find the correct functionality without memorizing API endpoints.
  • Automated Credential Refresh: Transparently handles token expiration for uninterrupted long-running automation tasks.
  • Multi-Agent Compatibility: Optimized for various agent types including Claude, Openclaw, and Codex for better tool adjustment.
