What is Feishu Docs?

The Feishu Docs skill is designed to interface directly with the Feishu (飞书) collaborative suite, enabling your AI agent to act as a secure, autonomous knowledge assistant. As one of the featured Openclaw Skills, this toolkit provides robust read, write, and document management capabilities directly within the user's personal cloud workspace.

Rather than just editing plain text, this skill supports complex, structured operations such as appending formatted code blocks, creating tables, and executing a multi-step workflow to insert online images. It strictly adheres to developer authorization scopes and handles background OAuth token refresh cycles automatically, making it ideal for continuous, long-running agent systems.

Feishu Docs Use Cases

  • Meeting Summarization: Quickly summarize discussion highlights and automatically append formatted meetings notes into designated Feishu documents.
  • Automated Status Reporting: Allow your AI agent to compile weekly progress reports, code changes, or analysis logs directly into a shared knowledge base folder.
  • Dynamic Documentation Wiki: Use the AI to query, read, and maintain developer guides, onboarding documentation, or FAQ tables in real-time.
  • Visual Knowledge Capturing: Dynamically import external image URLs, screenshots, and visual graphs directly into context-relevant document blocks.

How Feishu Docs Works

  1. OAuth Setup: Initiates user-level authentication via CLI to capture individual user access and refresh tokens, mapping them to the agent's workspace.
  2. Directory Management: Identifies the target directory via the folder token parameter to ensure all file creation and deletion are safely scoped.
  3. Intelligent Document Compilation: Converts unstructured inputs into structured Feishu Docx block payloads (such as lists, specific headers, or markdown tables).
  4. Multi-Step Image Insertion: Solves API limitations by automatically creating empty image blocks, uploading source assets to parent nodes, and binding them via PATCH requests.
  5. Automated Token Refreshing: Manages internal and user access tokens transparently to guarantee seamless background API calling without manual intervention.

Feishu Docs Setup

1. Developer Platform Configuration

  • Visit the Feishu Open Platform and select Create Custom App.
  • Copy your App ID and App Secret from the Credentials panel.
  • Navigate to Permission Administration and enable: drive:drive (Cloud Drive full access) and docx:document (Document read/write access).
  • Go to Security Settings and set the Redirect URL to:
    https://open.feishu.cn/cli/callback

  • Create a release version (e.g., 1.0.0), submit it for approval, and install it on your workspace.

2. Save Credentials Locally

Store your credentials securely in your home directory as required by standard Openclaw Skills setups:

echo 'FEISHU_APP_ID=cli_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' >> ~/.openclaw/.feishu_env
echo 'FEISHU_APP_SECRET=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' >> ~/.openclaw/.feishu_env
chmod 600 ~/.openclaw/.feishu_env

3. Run OAuth Authorization

Execute the token generation script to link your active Feishu account:

source ~/.openclaw/.feishu_env
cd ~/.openclaw/workspace
python3 scripts/feishu_docs.py token

Copy the link generated in your terminal, authenticate via your web browser, copy the code string from the redirect URL parameters (?code=xxx), and paste it back into your terminal prompt to save your refresh tokens.

4. Test the Integration

Create a testing document to confirm correct permission scoping:

source ~/.openclaw/.feishu_env
cd ~/.openclaw/workspace
python3 scripts/feishu_docs.py create "Hello World"

Feishu Docs Data Schema & Taxonomy

Script Parameter Configurations

CLI Argument / Env Var Type Description Mandatory
FEISHU_APP_ID String Unique application developer ID Yes
FEISHU_APP_SECRET String Security secret key corresponding to the app Yes
ACE_FOLDER_TOKEN String Specific target folder identifier No (defaults to Root)

Content Formatting Mapping

  • Header Structures: Uses H1 for dates/primary title, H2 for numbered categories, and H3 for distinct content sections.
  • Code Elements: Maps to code blocks (block_type=14) ensuring no raw style fields are sent, keeping payloads strictly API-compliant.
  • Data Tables: Managed dynamically via block_type=31 utilizing individual coordinate coordinate updates via PATCH operations.

Feishu Docs Advanced Features

  • Granular Drive Scoping: Restricts AI capabilities to specific folders via directory IDs, establishing strict data privacy boundaries.
  • Asynchronous User-Identity Token Refreshing: Intercepts token expiry to auto-request renewed credentials without disturbing the agent flow.
  • Robust Document Layout Pipeline: Standardizes corporate document styles automatically, processing font variations, bold weightings, inline code fragments, and ordered list structures correctly.
  • Automated Table Compilation: Dynamically builds data grids, processes custom headers, and optimizes rendering limits for tables containing more than 50 rows.
