What is FoolClaw?

FoolClaw is designed as a joke-first product within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, transforming your AI agent into a lighthearted prankster. It moves away from dry, technical interactions by allowing the agent to leave notes on your desktop, trigger browser-based taunts, or even 'Rickroll' the user via media redirects.

The skill is built around the concept of a background operator that can be armed to lurk quietly, periodically choosing and executing pranks from a local catalog. It prioritizes theatricality and playfulness over stealth, ensuring that all actions remain harmless and obviously part of a joke while maintaining a native, idiomatic tone across multiple languages including English and Chinese.

FoolClaw Use Cases

  • Injecting personality and humor into a developer's local environment through Openclaw Skills.
  • Setting up a background prank operator that executes harmless jokes at a 5-minute cadence.
  • Automating 'Rickrolls' (nggyu) or desktop manifestos to surprise friends or colleagues.
  • Testing background task persistence and AI intent routing in a low-stakes, fun environment.

How FoolClaw Works

  1. The user provides a command or activation phrase such as Start FoolClaw which triggers the skill layer.
  2. FoolClaw maps the user's intent to specific modes like start, run, arm, or surprise.
  3. The skill utilizes a bundled Node.js runtime to execute scripts located in the baseDir/skills/foolclaw/scripts directory.
  4. If armed, a background operator manages a cron-like lifecycle, checking snapshots of recent activity to decide when to deploy the next prank.
  5. Prank artifacts (HTML files, text notes, or browser tabs) are generated and opened locally on the user's OS (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

FoolClaw Setup

To get started with FoolClaw using Openclaw Skills, ensure you have Node.js installed and the skill files in your runtime path.

# Standard activation and background arming
node "{baseDir}/skills/foolclaw/scripts/foolclaw.mjs" start

# To manually arm the background operator without an initial prank
node "{baseDir}/skills/foolclaw/scripts/foolclaw.mjs" arm

# To stop all background activities
node "{baseDir}/skills/foolclaw/scripts/foolclaw.mjs" disarm

FoolClaw Data Schema & Taxonomy

FoolClaw organizes its operations through a structured set of scripts and reference catalogs within the Openclaw Skills directory structure:

Component Path Description
Main Entrypoint {baseDir}/skills/foolclaw/scripts/foolclaw.mjs Handles all CLI routing and execution logic.
Prank Catalog {baseDir}/skills/foolclaw/references/local-pranks.md A markdown repository of all implemented local pranks.
Operator Logic Internal Snapshot Tracks minutesSinceLastAction and lastPrankId to prevent spamming.
Artifacts System Desktop/Browser Temporary files generated during desktop-note or desktop-manifesto runs.

FoolClaw Advanced Features

  • Multi-mode Intent Routing: Automatically maps natural language triggers to complex CLI actions.
  • Context-Aware Media Routing: Smartly chooses between Bilibili and YouTube for the nggyu prank based on the user's linguistic context.
  • Background Operator: A persistent 'lurking' mode that uses internal snapshots to curate the timing of pranks.
  • External Channel Discovery: Capabilities to explore host messaging surfaces for pranking friends via IM if the environment permits.
  • Localized Prank Engine: Dynamic generation of prank copy that maintains native rhythm and humor in both English and Chinese.
