What is Glancely?

Glancely is a sophisticated tracking framework designed to consolidate your personal metrics into a single, actionable dashboard. By leveraging the flexibility of Openclaw Skills, it allows users to describe what they want to track in plain English and automatically generates the necessary migrations, cron jobs, and dashboard panels.

Whether you are monitoring your daily mood, tracking Most Important Tasks (MITs), or logging habits, Glancely handles the technical overhead. It bridges the gap between raw data collection and visual progress by providing a standardized way to manage personal logs via a CLI-driven architecture.

Glancely Use Cases

  • Creating custom habit trackers using natural language descriptions.
  • Automating daily reminders and notifications via cron schedules.
  • Generating a centralized web dashboard to visualize mood, time logs, and diary entries.
  • Managing Most Important Tasks (MITs) through an AI-agent interface.
  • Scaffolding new data components with pre-defined schemas and migrations.

How Glancely Works

  1. Intent Analysis: The skill parses user input to determine if it matches an existing component like mood, reminder, or diary.
  2. Component Verification: It checks the local filesystem (~/.glancely/components/) to see if the required tracker is already initialized.
  3. Dynamic Scaffolding: If the component is missing, the skill references example templates and scaffolds a new tracker including fields and notification logic.
  4. Data Logging: Execution of specific Python scripts (log.py) within the component directory to record user data.
  5. Dashboard Generation: The system triggers a build process to update the HTML dashboard with the latest tracked entries.

Glancely Setup

To get started with Glancely as part of your Openclaw Skills library, follow these steps:

# Install the Glancely package
pip3 install glancely

# Perform minimal initialization and migrations
glancely setup

# (Optional) Verify installed trackers
glancely list

Note: On macOS systems with PEP 668 restrictions, it is recommended to use pipx install glancely.

Glancely Data Schema & Taxonomy

Glancely organizes data within a dedicated home directory, ensuring portability and structure.

Directory Description
~/.glancely/components/ Contains individual tracker logic, SKILL.md files, and log scripts.
~/.glancely/dashboard/ Stores the generated index.html and assets for visual tracking.
~/.glancely/openclaw.toml Configuration file for agent IDs and session info.
examples/ Reference templates used for scaffolding new trackers.

Glancely Advanced Features

  • Natural Language Scaffolding: Infer fields, cron schedules, and notification text directly from conversation.
  • Automated Cron Management: Integrated support for scheduling background tasks and reminders.
  • Multi-Component Routing: Intelligent dispatch table that falls back to example templates for seamless expansion.
  • Headless Dashboard Builds: Programmatic generation of static HTML dashboards after data updates.
  • Custom Data Pathing: Support for the GLANCE_HOME environment variable to relocate data storage.
