What is Ika CLI?

The Ika CLI is a comprehensive toolset designed for developers and network participants to interact with the Ika decentralized Multi-Party Computation (MPC) signing network built on Sui. It enables secure, non-custodial management of dWallets, allowing users to perform Distributed Key Generation (DKG), message signing, and complex cryptographic operations directly from their terminal.

By leveraging this tool within Openclaw Skills, users can automate blockchain interactions, manage validator nodes, and handle multi-signature workflows with precision. The CLI integrates deeply with the Sui ecosystem, using the Sui keystore for secure key derivation and transaction management, making it an essential component for high-security DeFi and infrastructure projects.

Ika CLI Use Cases

  • Creating and managing decentralized dWallets using Distributed Key Generation (DKG).
  • Requesting secure MPC signatures for messages across various curves like secp256k1 and ed25519.
  • Batching up to 20 presign capabilities in a single transaction to optimize gas and latency.
  • Managing validator node lifecycles, including joining committees and updating metadata.
  • Implementing future-signing workflows where signatures are created partially and fulfilled later.

How Ika CLI Works

  1. Configuration: The CLI initializes by syncing with the Sui environment and fetching the latest Ika contract addresses.
  2. Key Derivation: Encryption keys are derived statelessly from the active Sui keystore using a deterministic hashing process.
  3. DKG Process: A dWallet is created through a decentralized key generation protocol, resulting in a unique dWallet ID and Public Key.
  4. Capability Management: The network issues Capability IDs (Cap IDs) which grant the holder the right to sign or manage specific wallets.
  5. Transaction Execution: Commands interact with the Ika network on Sui, using gas auto-detection to facilitate signing or validator operations.
  6. Output Handling: Results are returned in human-readable format or as structured JSON for machine processing.

Ika CLI Setup

The Ika CLI requires the Sui CLI to be installed for key management. You can install the tool using the following methods:

# Via Homebrew (macOS/Linux)
brew install ika-xyz/tap/ika

# Or build from source using Cargo
cargo build --release -p ika

# Initialize the configuration
ika config init

Ika CLI Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Ika CLI manages data through on-chain objects and local configuration files. Key data structures include:

Object Type Description Key Metadata
dWallet The primary MPC wallet entity ID, Public Key, Curve Type
Capability (Cap) Permission-based tokens Cap ID, Owner Address, Expiry
Presign Pre-computed signing shares Status, Curve, Algorithm
Config Local environment settings Sui Path, Ika Network Path, Gas Budget

Secret shares can be stored locally in .bin files or derived dynamically from the Sui keystore.

Ika CLI Advanced Features

  • Multi-Curve Support: Compatibility with secp256k1, secp256r1, ed25519, and ristretto curves.
  • JSON Interoperability: Support for the --json flag across all commands for seamless Openclaw Skills automation.
  • Future Signing: A two-step process (create and fulfill) for conditional signing workflows.
  • Validator Suite: Over 30 subcommands dedicated to professional validator operations and network governance.
  • Stateless Key Management: Derived encryption keys ensure no sensitive private keys are stored in plaintext on disk.
