What is Quick Note?

Quick Note is a high-performance, local-first utility designed to let you record thoughts, tasks, and bookmarks the moment inspiration strikes. By maintaining zero external dependencies and leveraging simple JSON files for persistent storage, this module delivers ultimate privacy and speed. It seamlessly integrates into your workflows as one of the most reliable Openclaw Skills for personal knowledge management.

Whether triggered by voice or keyboard, it acts as a lightweight inbox for your mind. It automatically parses text inputs to categorize notes with relevant tags, ensuring that your ideas, reading lists, and tasks are organized without manual overhead.

Quick Note Use Cases

  • Inspiration Capture: Instantly dictate or type fleeting ideas as they occur, ensuring no creative thoughts are lost.
  • Reading List Management: Quickly tag articles, papers, or links as readlater to revisit during dedicated research sessions.
  • Immediate Task Tracking: Convert spoken or typed tasks into actionable todo items automatically based on keyword matching.
  • Fragmented Knowledge Curation: Gather scattered thoughts and snippets throughout the week and review them in a unified format over the weekend.

How Quick Note Works

  1. Triggering: The user invokes the skill via voice command or text entry using activation phrases such as "记一下" (take a note), "笔记" (note), or "记个事" (note a thing).
  2. Intelligent Parsing: The system analyzes the input content for specific keyword indicators (e.g., query symbols classify notes as readlater, while task-related terms assign them to todo).
  3. Local Serialization: The structured note is immediately saved to a local, human-readable quick_notes.json file.
  4. Retrieval & Querying: Users query notes using tags or text keywords, receiving instant results sorted by creation date.

Quick Note Setup

Make sure you have Python 3.8+ installed on your system. This utility requires no external dependencies.

# Add a note with tags directly via Python CLI
python -c "from quick_note import QuickNote; QuickNote().add('Read RAG paper', tags=['readlater'])"

# List all notes tagged with 'idea'
python -c "from quick_note import QuickNote; [print(n['text']) for n in QuickNote().search(tags=['idea'])]"

Quick Note Data Schema & Taxonomy

Data is saved locally in a quick_notes.json file in the directory of the script. This ensures your information is fully private and transportable.

Quick Note Advanced Features

  • Deterministic Auto-Tagging: Intelligently parses inputs for context triggers (such as "?" or "need") to organize thoughts without expensive LLM processing.
  • Zero-Dependency Core: Developed in pure Python, making it incredibly fast and compatible across environments with no overhead.
  • Privacy-First Storage: Saves records entirely locally in raw JSON files, maintaining absolute user privacy.
  • Flexible Extensibility: Plays nicely with other ecosystem automations and productivity-focused Openclaw Skills to build personalized, unified dashboards.
