What is Lexiang Knowledge Base?

Lexiang Knowledge Base is an Agentic MCP integration for connecting AI agents to Lexiang personal and team knowledge bases. It supports knowledge search, semantic retrieval, document creation, page and Block editing, file transfers, meeting-recording imports, comments, drafts, smart tables, and structured content workflows.

Designed for Openclaw Skills users, the skill emphasizes grounded answers, explicit write-target confirmation, secure authentication handling, and reliable link generation. It routes each request to the appropriate reference workflow so agents can work with text, documents, images, audio, video, and structured data without guessing at the user's intended destination.

Lexiang Knowledge Base Use Cases

  • Search Lexiang pages, documents, notes, articles, and other knowledge-base content before answering questions.
  • Read a supplied lexiangla.com page or /pages/{entry_id} URL and summarize its contents.
  • Create Markdown documents or save generated content to a confirmed Lexiang space or personal knowledge base.
  • Edit existing pages at the Block level by adding headings, changing content, deleting sections, or reorganizing documents.
  • Upload and download PDFs, Word documents, images, and other binary files.
  • Import Tencent Meeting recordings into the knowledge base.
  • Query, insert, update, or delete records in Lexiang smart tables.
  • Save, inspect, publish, and manage Markdown drafts.
  • Review comments and discussions attached to knowledge pages.
  • Analyze existing writing style or topic coverage using retrieved Lexiang content rather than unsupported assumptions.
  • Support Openclaw Skills workflows that need secure, multimodal knowledge retrieval and controlled content management.

How Lexiang Knowledge Base Works

  1. Detect a Lexiang intent from terms such as Lexiang, knowledge base, personal knowledge base, lexiangla.com, space_id, entry_id, /spaces/, or /pages/.
  2. Verify the MCP connection with whoami() before performing any Lexiang operation.
  3. If authentication returns 401, stop retrying and follow references/setup.md for OAuth renewal or token continuation; if the connection fails, follow the initial configuration guidance.
  4. Identify the operation type and load only the relevant reference file, such as search.md, writer.md, blocks.md, files.md, smartsheet.md, or draft.md.
  5. For requests involving existing documents, previous content, writing style, or knowledge-base analysis, call search_kb_search or search_kb_embedding_search before generating an answer.
  6. For write operations, require an explicitly confirmed target based on a URL, ID, or clearly identified name; never select a destination by browsing or guessing.
  7. Execute cross-module workflows in sequence, such as search then write, search then edit, or upload then record the file in a document.
  8. Split file or entry operations into batches of no more than 20 items and tell the user the quantity and batching strategy before execution.
  9. Generate returned page links using whoami().company.company_domain; use the correct subdomain or company_from query parameter according to the domain format.
  10. Report the completed operation, affected resources, and generated Lexiang links while preserving the skill's security and authorization rules.

Lexiang Knowledge Base Setup

Prerequisites

  • An AI agent host that supports MCP skills, such as a compatible built-in connector platform or another MCP-capable environment.
  • Authorized Lexiang access and a configured MCP connection.
  • The skill's references/setup.md file available for token configuration, OAuth renewal, continuation, and troubleshooting.

Configuration steps

  1. Install or register the Lexiang Knowledge Base skill in the supported agent environment.
  2. Configure the Lexiang MCP connection using the host's standard MCP setup flow and authorization process.
  3. If the MCP configuration includes a company_from parameter, preserve it in the configured URL rather than converting it into a subdomain.
  4. Run whoami() to verify authentication and identify the current user, company code, and company domain.
  5. On a 401 response, stop repeated retries and renew or continue authorization according to references/setup.md.
  6. Before using a workflow, load the corresponding reference document through the intent routing rules; do not load every reference file unnecessarily.
  7. Test a read-only search before attempting any write, upload, edit, or batch operation.

Operational safety

  • Confirm every write destination from a user-provided URL, ID, or unambiguous target.
  • Never choose a page or knowledge base merely because its name appears suitable.
  • For more than 20 files or entries, announce and execute batches of 20 or fewer.
  • Treat binary uploads separately from Markdown or other text-document creation.

Openclaw Skills deployments should keep authentication, target confirmation, and reference-driven routing enabled throughout the setup and execution lifecycle.

Lexiang Knowledge Base Data Schema & Taxonomy

Core resource model

Resource Purpose Key identifiers or metadata
Company Tenant and URL context for the authenticated account company_domain, company.code, company_from
Space Knowledge-base container used for organizing documents space_id, name, confirmed destination
Page or entry A readable or editable knowledge document entry_id, page URL, title, content, space relationship
Block The granular content unit within an existing page Block type, block ID, parent or ordering information, content fields
File Binary content associated with a knowledge workflow File name, type, upload or download state, related page or entry
Smart table Structured data collection Table identity, schema, columns, rows, and record identifiers
Draft Markdown content saved before publication Draft content, status, title, destination, publication state
Comment Discussion attached to a knowledge page Page or entry reference, comment content, author and status metadata

Reference-file taxonomy

  • references/setup.md: authentication, tokens, OAuth, continuation, and troubleshooting.
  • references/search.md: keyword and semantic search, content retrieval, and directory browsing.
  • references/writer.md: document creation, content import, and collection workflows.
  • references/blocks.md: Block-level page updates, insertion, deletion, and movement.
  • references/files.md: binary file upload and download workflows.
  • references/connectors.md: Tencent Meeting recording imports.
  • references/smartsheet.md: smart-table CRUD operations and schema management.
  • references/draft.md: Markdown draft storage, publishing, and management.
  • references/comment.md: page comment retrieval.
  • references/base.md: data model, URL rules, security rules, Block structure, and tool discovery.
  • references/index.md: complete index and scenario-based loading order.
  • For a domain containing a subdomain, return {domain}/pages/{entry_id}.
  • For a top-level lexiangla.com domain, return {domain}/pages/{entry_id}?company_from={company_from}.
  • Resolve company_from first from the MCP JSON URL parameter, then from whoami().company.code.
  • Never construct user-facing links from the MCP endpoint itself.

Lexiang Knowledge Base Advanced Features

  • Hybrid keyword and embedding-based retrieval through search_kb_search and search_kb_embedding_search.
  • Multimodal knowledge workflows for text and multimedia content, including deep parsing for agent-assisted understanding.
  • Block-level page editing for precise heading, paragraph, deletion, movement, and structural updates.
  • Smart-table schema management and structured record operations.
  • Binary file upload and download support with dedicated three-step handling.
  • Tencent Meeting connector support for importing meeting recordings.
  • Markdown draft lifecycle management, including save, review, publish, and retrieval.
  • Scenario-aware reference routing that loads only the documentation needed for the current intent.
  • Cross-module orchestration for search-to-write, read-to-edit, upload-to-record, and generate-to-save workflows.
  • Explicit write safety controls that prevent guessed destinations and unauthorized bulk changes.
  • Batch protection for operations involving more than 20 files or entries, reducing token-limit and submission risks.
  • Authentication-aware recovery for 401 responses, OAuth continuation, and disconnected MCP sessions.
  • Company-aware URL generation that supports both Lexiang subdomains and top-level domains with company_from query parameters.
  • A strong fit for Openclaw Skills users building secure, auditable, agent-driven personal knowledge management and team documentation workflows.
