What is Life Quest?

Life Quest is an innovative framework designed to help users navigate the complexities of life by treating daily existence as a Role-Playing Game (RPG). Since life has no save or load functions, this skill acts as a task guidance system that helps you identify your ultimate goal—the Main Quest—and align all daily activities as Side Quests that support it. It is built to serve as a North Star for decision-making, ensuring that every action taken contributes to a larger purpose.

By utilizing Openclaw Skills, Life Quest provides a structured way to evaluate tasks based on relevance to your long-term vision, urgency, and impact. It moves beyond simple to-do lists by offering emotional intelligence and strategic alignment, helping users overcome confusion and regain direction through actionable advice and positive reinforcement.

Life Quest Use Cases

  • Defining a singular, long-term life goal (Main Quest) to guide all future decisions.
  • Prioritizing daily to-do lists by evaluating their relevance to core life objectives.
  • Seeking direction and specific action steps during periods of personal confusion or burnout.
  • Balancing essential survival tasks with optional leisure and social activities.
  • Breaking down complex life goals into manageable, prioritized sub-tasks.

How Life Quest Works

  1. The user establishes their Main Quest, representing their ultimate life goal, which is stored in the profile reference.
  2. Daily Side Quests are inputted by the user, covering work, health, learning, or social categories.
  3. The skill performs a Relevance Analysis to determine how strongly each Side Quest supports the Main Quest.
  4. An Urgency Assessment is conducted based on deadlines, opportunity costs, and impact area.
  5. Tasks are ranked using a priority matrix (e.g., High Relevance + High Urgency takes top priority).
  6. The system generates a formatted task sorting suggestion with specific advice for each item.

Life Quest Setup

To integrate this skill into your AI agent environment, ensure the directory structure is initialized as follows:

mkdir -p life-quest/references
touch life-quest/references/user-profile.md
touch life-quest/references/quest-templates.md
touch life-quest/references/motivation-library.md

Configure your agent to recognize triggers like life goals, main quest, or feeling lost to activate the Openclaw Skills guidance protocols.

Life Quest Data Schema & Taxonomy

Life Quest organizes data using a hierarchical markdown-based taxonomy to maintain persistent user context:

File Name Purpose Key Metadata
user-profile.md Core user identity Main Quest, long-term preferences, ultimate 'Boss' goal.
quest-templates.md Task evaluation Standardized templates for assessing relevance and urgency.
motivation-library.md Emotional support Curated positive reinforcement phrases and encouraging scripts.

Each task is assigned attributes: Relevance (High/Medium/Low), Urgency (Urgent/Important/General/Deferrable), and Status (Todo/Doing/Done/Abandoned).

Life Quest Advanced Features

  • North Star Alignment: Automatically flags tasks that have zero relevance to the user's defined Main Quest.
  • Dynamic Priority Matrix: Re-ranks your entire task list based on shifting deadlines and goal changes.
  • Guidance for the Lost: A specialized logic flow for users experiencing 'confusion' that reviews current resources and suggests 1-3 immediate needle-moving actions.
  • Positive Reinforcement Engine: Integrates a library of non-preachy, supportive communication styles to maintain user motivation.
  • Multi-Category Support: Handles diverse life domains including health, career, social, and education within a single unified framework using Openclaw Skills.
