What is maverick-gog?

maverick-gog is a specialized, backend-focused setup hook designed for the Openclaw Skills ecosystem. Instead of forcing manual, interactive authentication steps, this skill streamlines Google OAuth integration by reading credentials supplied dynamically by an external orchestrator during deployment or rotation.

It works hand-in-hand with the upstream gog skill, providing the necessary backend plumbing so AI agents can seamlessly interact with Google Workspace APIs (like Gmail and Google Calendar) without requiring human intervention for OAuth handshakes.

maverick-gog Use Cases

  • Dynamically provisioning Google Workspace OAuth credentials for AI agents in automated headless environments.
  • Managing and rotating Google API tokens securely through external orchestrators via RPC.
  • Supporting multi-account Google Workspace environments where multiple clients or users require segregated access within a single agent instance.

How maverick-gog Works

  1. An external orchestrator triggers the setup process via the skills.setup RPC call, supplying Google OAuth environment variables.
  2. The maverick-gog setup script reads these credentials ephemerally from the environment.
  3. The script passes the credentials directly to gogcli using gog auth credentials set and gog auth import.
  4. Once seeded, gogcli takes ownership of the OAuth lifecycle, handling automatic token refresh-token rotation independently.
  5. AI agents then make Google Workspace calls using the separate, user-facing upstream gog skill.

maverick-gog Setup

Configure the necessary environment variables and run the setup hook script:

# Export the required Client ID variable
export MAVERICK_GOG_CLIENT_ID="your-google-client-id"

# Run the internal setup hook script
./scripts/setup.sh

Ensure that the upstream gog CLI is installed and available in your system path, as this hook relies directly on it.

maverick-gog Data Schema & Taxonomy

The maverick-gog skill primarily manages ephemeral environment variables and passes configuration data directly to the gog CLI. It does not maintain its own database schema, but relies on the underlying gogcli credential storage structure:

Attribute Description Source
MAVERICK_GOG_CLIENT_ID The Google OAuth Client ID required for the gogcli wrapper. Orchestrator Environment
gogcli auth state Securely persisted OAuth credentials and refresh tokens. Managed internally by gog CLI

For multi-account instances, each account is registered independently by client and email, mapped natively inside the gogcli configurations.

maverick-gog Advanced Features

  • Non-Interactive Authentication: Eliminates the need for manual copy-pasting of OAuth codes by receiving credentials directly through RPC.
  • Autonomous Refresh Token Rotation: Once configured, the underlying gogcli handles refresh token updates without needing agent or orchestrator intervention.
  • Segregated Multi-Account Support: Allows multiple Google accounts to coexist. Developers can target specific accounts using the GOG_ACCOUNT environment variable or --account command flag.
  • Seamless Ecosystem Integration: Plays an essential role behind the scenes to power upstream Openclaw Skills that require direct Google Workspace APIs.
