What is MovieFetch?

MovieFetch is a specialized automation tool designed for home server enthusiasts. By utilizing Openclaw Skills, it bridges the gap between your chat interface and your media stack, allowing for seamless control over Plex, Radarr, and qBittorrent. This skill simplifies the process of expanding your media library by handling searches, checking existing inventory, and managing the download lifecycle without requiring manual dashboard access.

Built for developers and power users who want a unified interface, MovieFetch turns complex media management tasks into simple conversational triggers. It ensures your media environment stays organized and up-to-date while providing high-visibility status updates on your active downloads.

MovieFetch Use Cases

  • Quickly adding new movies to your Radarr search queue from any chat device.
  • Verifying if a specific film title is already available in your Plex library to avoid redundant downloads.
  • Monitoring real-time download progress and estimated time of arrival (ETA) from qBittorrent.
  • Automating the removal of media files and database entries when library space needs to be reclaimed.

How MovieFetch Works

  1. The user initiates a request through a command like "get " or "status of ".
  2. The skill executes check_plex.py to determine if the movie already exists in the local library.
  3. If the title is not found, the system triggers request_movie.py to add the movie to the Radarr search queue.
  4. For active tasks, the skill calls check_download.py to fetch live percentage progress and ETA from qBittorrent.
  5. Users can finalize management by calling remove_movie.py to purge titles from both the library and the filesystem.

MovieFetch Setup

To set up MovieFetch, ensure your API keys for Radarr, Plex, and qBittorrent are ready and accessible. Install the skill into your agent environment using the following command:

openclaw install moviefetch

Ensure that you have configured your environment variables to include the appropriate server URLs and authentication tokens for your self-hosted stack.
