What is NoteHelper?

NoteHelper is a specialized tool designed to streamline the management of personal knowledge bases. It provides a robust entry point for interacting with the Notebook Syncer service, specifically targeting Obsidian and Omnivore Server users. By utilizing this skill within the ecosystem of Openclaw Skills, developers and researchers can automate the capture of digital content and maintain a highly organized library of articles and notes.

The skill handles the complexities of content synchronization, from manual markdown uploads to asynchronous background crawling of web URLs. It ensures that all data is transmitted securely via HTTPS and provides a developer-friendly CLI-like experience for interacting with GraphQL-based search APIs and RESTful content endpoints.

NoteHelper Use Cases

  • Automatically saving and archiving web articles while browsing or researching.
  • Synchronizing manual notes and markdown content directly into Obsidian or Omnivore Server.
  • Performing complex queries across personal libraries using advanced search filters.
  • Rapidly configuring and verifying API connections for note synchronization services.

How NoteHelper Works

  1. The user triggers an action such as save, link, or search using specific natural language keywords or slash commands.
  2. NoteHelper verifies the presence of an API key in the local environment or the .openclaw/notehelper.json configuration file.
  3. For the save command, the skill extracts metadata like title, URL, and content to perform a POST request to the API.
  4. For the link command, it submits a URL for asynchronous processing, where the backend fetches and summarizes the content.
  5. For search queries, it constructs a GraphQL request using variables for high-performance filtering and retrieval.
  6. Results or status updates are displayed back to the user in a clean, structured Markdown format.

NoteHelper Setup

To get started with NoteHelper as part of your Openclaw Skills toolkit, follow these steps:

  1. Obtain your API key by following the Notebook Syncer official account on WeChat and selecting Obsidian or SiYuan.
  2. Configure your local environment:
mkdir -p ~/.openclaw
echo '{"api_key":"your_api_key_here"}' > ~/.openclaw/notehelper.json
  1. Export the key for the current session:
export NOTEHELPER_API_KEY=$(python3 -c "import json; print(json.load(open('$HOME/.openclaw/notehelper.json'))['api_key'])")
  1. Verify the connection:
curl -s -H "x-api-key: $NOTEHELPER_API_KEY" https://claw.notebooksyncer.com/api/stats/article-count
