What is NotiLens?

NotiLens provides a powerful observability bridge for your automated workflows and AI processes. By integrating this capability into your Openclaw Skills environment, you gain immediate visibility into the execution status of your agents without the need for manual log polling. The skill allows any script or agent to push critical updates—such as task starts, progress checkpoints, or fatal errors—directly to your mobile device or team dashboard.

This skill is essential for developers who need to monitor long-running background tasks or maintain high-reliability systems. NotiLens simplifies the complexity of tracking distributed agent activities by providing a unified webhook interface that supports rich metadata, severity levels, and human-in-the-loop interaction prompts.

NotiLens Use Cases

  • Receiving instant push notifications when an Openclaw Skills agent completes a long-running data processing job.
  • Monitoring autonomous scripts for infinite loops and receiving urgent alerts when a task repeats unexpectedly.
  • Implementing human-in-the-loop workflows where an agent pauses and sends a notification for manual approval before proceeding.
  • Tracking performance metrics such as token usage, duration, and error counts across multiple agent runs.
  • Getting immediate alerts for database connection failures or API rate limit hits in production environments.

How NotiLens Works

  1. Initialize a unique run_id at the start of a task to correlate all subsequent events to a specific execution run.
  2. Dispatch a task.started event to the NotiLens webhook to signal the beginning of the workflow and notify stakeholders.
  3. Send periodic task.progress or task.checkpoint updates to maintain visibility during lengthy operations.
  4. Capture and report non-fatal errors or pauses using warning or urgent event types to ensure rapid response to issues.
  5. Emit a terminal task.completed or task.failed event containing a meta object with final performance metrics to close the lifecycle.

NotiLens Setup

To get started with NotiLens for your Openclaw Skills, obtain your token and secret from your topic settings at the NotiLens website. Then, configure your environment variables:

export NOTILENS_TOKEN=your_topic_token
export NOTILENS_SECRET=your_topic_secret

Ensure that curl is available in your environment as it is used to transmit the JSON payloads to the NotiLens API.

NotiLens Data Schema & Taxonomy

NotiLens utilizes a structured JSON payload for every event. The data is organized around the following primary fields:

Field Type Description
event string The canonical event name (e.g., task.started, input.required)
type string Severity level: info, success, warning, or urgent
agent string Identifier for the specific Openclaw Skills agent or script
meta object Key-value pairs for metrics like duration, retry counts, or token usage
run_id string A unique identifier for grouping events from the same execution
is_actionable boolean Flag indicating if the notification requires human interaction

NotiLens Advanced Features

  • Custom Metric Tracking: Pass numeric values in the meta object to generate analytics and performance charts.
  • Loop Detection: Use the task.loop event type to trigger alerts when repetitive patterns are detected in agent logic.
  • Rich Media Support: Include image_url or download_url in notifications to send screenshots or generated reports directly to your device.
  • Actionable Notifications: Deep-link to specific dashboards or approval pages using the open_url field for seamless human-in-the-loop integration.
  • Global Run Correlation: Generate run_ids formatted as run_{unix_ms}_{random_hex4} to maintain a clear audit trail across distributed Openclaw Skills.
