What is OpenClaw Buddy?

OpenClaw Buddy is an engaging extension for AI coding agents that brings a Tamagotchi-style collection experience to your technical workspace. By utilizing the Openclaw Skills framework, it generates a unique, persistent virtual companion for every user based on their platform-specific ID. Whether you are interacting via Feishu, Discord, or Telegram, your buddy remains consistent across sessions.

This skill adds a layer of personality and fun to developer environments, allowing users to collect rare species and compare stats like Debugging and Snark. It leverages high-quality PRNG algorithms to ensure that every user has a companion that is uniquely theirs, making it a standout feature among Openclaw Skills.

OpenClaw Buddy Use Cases

  • Enhancing team engagement within developer communication platforms like Feishu or Discord.
  • Providing a unique mascot for community members based on their persistent IDs.
  • Adding gamified elements to AI agent interactions through rarity-based collection.
  • Demonstrating deterministic seed generation and identity-linked content within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem.

How OpenClaw Buddy Works

  1. The AI agent detects a trigger keyword such as buddy or /buddy.
  2. The system retrieves a unique User ID from the messaging platform context (e.g., Feishu open_id or Discord sender ID).
  3. The skill executes a Node.js script using the User ID as a seed for the FNV-1a hash and Mulberry32 PRNG.
  4. The generator calculates species, rarity (Common to Legendary), cosmetics, and attributes.
  5. The agent displays a formatted ASCII art card containing the buddy's appearance, stats, and a custom personality description.

OpenClaw Buddy Setup

To integrate this buddy generator into your environment, ensure you have Node.js installed and the skill files located in your workspace. You can test the generation locally using the following command:

node ~/.openclaw/workspace/skills/openclaw-buddy/scripts/buddy.js "<user_id>"

Ensure your AI agent has permission to execute local scripts to leverage the full power of Openclaw Skills.

OpenClaw Buddy Data Schema & Taxonomy

OpenClaw Buddy organizes its metadata deterministically to ensure consistency across the Openclaw Skills environment. The data includes:

OpenClaw Buddy Advanced Features

  • Deterministic Seeding: Uses a specific salt (openclaw-buddy-2026) to ensure unique results distinct from other buddy generators.
  • Multi-Platform Identity: Automatically handles ID extraction from Feishu, Telegram, and Discord for seamless Openclaw Skills integration.
  • Programmatic JSON Output: The script sends raw data to stderr, allowing other agents to process buddy stats for secondary automations.
  • Custom ID Lookups: Users can manually provide strings to check the buddy stats of other users or custom identifiers.
