What is peekmd?

peekmd is a developer-centric utility designed to turn Markdown content into beautiful, shareable web pages instantly. It is specifically engineered for AI agents, bots, and automated workflows that need to present formatted information—such as technical reports, documentation, or code snippets—without the complexity of managing a dedicated web server.

By providing a simple API-first interface, peekmd enables users of Openclaw Skills to bridge the gap between raw text generation and human-readable presentation. The service supports GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM), syntax highlighting for code blocks, and ephemeral hosting with customizable expiration times.

peekmd Use Cases

  • Sharing AI-generated reports, tables, and diagrams as readable web links.
  • Providing temporary documentation for software previews and API logs.
  • Delivering formatted content from CLI tools or AI agents to human stakeholders.
  • Creating "burn-after-reading" technical snippets for secure, short-term collaboration within Openclaw Skills workflows.

How peekmd Works

  1. The AI agent or developer sends a POST request containing Markdown text to the peekmd API.
  2. The server renders the Markdown into a production-ready HTML page with standard styling.
  3. The API returns a JSON response containing a unique URL and an expiration timestamp.
  4. The generated link is shared with the recipient for viewing in any standard web browser.
  5. The page is automatically deleted after the Time-to-Live (TTL) expires or via a manual burn request.

peekmd Setup

To start using this skill within your Openclaw Skills environment, you can use the following curl command for the free tier:

curl -X POST https://peekmd.dev/api/create \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"markdown": "# Hello World\nThis is a peekmd page."}'

For premium features, including unlimited TTL and ad-free pages, you can integrate Stripe metered billing or utilize the x402 crypto-payment protocol by including the required headers in your API calls.

peekmd Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill interacts with the following data structures to manage rendered content:

Field Type Description
markdown string The source Markdown text (Max 500 KB).
ttl number Optional. Expiration time in seconds (Default 300 for free tier).
url string The public URL of the rendered web page.
slug string Unique identifier for the page, used for the burn endpoint.
expiresAt string ISO 8601 timestamp indicating when the page will be deleted.

peekmd Advanced Features

  • Burn-after-reading: Immediately delete sensitive pages using the /api/burn/:slug endpoint.
  • Custom TTL: Set specific expiration windows for content, ranging from 1 minute to permanent hosting.
  • x402 Protocol: Leverage account-free, crypto-native payments for high-tier Openclaw Skills integrations.
  • GFM Support: Full support for GitHub Flavored Markdown including task lists, tables, and fenced code blocks.
  • Syntax Highlighting: Automatic language detection and styling for code snippets within your rendered pages.
