What is pinets?

pinets is a high-performance CLI tool designed to execute TradingView Pine Script indicators directly from your terminal using the PineTS runtime. It allows developers and traders to run technical analysis scripts without the need for a browser or the TradingView platform, making it a perfect fit for automated Openclaw Skills. By bridging the gap between Pine Script v5 and local execution environments, pinets enables the calculation of complex indicators like RSI, MACD, and EMA using either live Binance market data or custom JSON datasets.

This tool is particularly valuable for those looking to integrate sophisticated financial modeling into their local development environment or automated pipelines. As a versatile component of Openclaw Skills, pinets provides structured JSON output that is easy to parse, allowing AI agents and scripts to make data-driven decisions based on technical indicators.

pinets Use Cases

  • Running Pine Script indicators locally to test trading strategies against historical data.
  • Automating technical analysis calculations for cryptocurrency pairs in Openclaw Skills workflows.
  • Fetching and processing live Binance market data for real-time signal generation.
  • Converting Pine Script indicator outputs into structured JSON for further processing in data pipelines.
  • Debugging and transpiling Pine Script logic into JavaScript for deeper technical analysis.

How pinets Works

  1. The user specifies a .pine indicator file or pipes the script content directly via standard input.
  2. The tool identifies the data source, fetching live OHLCV candles from Binance or reading a local JSON file.
  3. The internal PineTS engine transpiles the Pine Script v5 code into an executable format.
  4. The engine runs the script across the provided candle data, applying specified warmup periods to ensure indicator accuracy.
  5. The CLI outputs the resulting plot data, metadata, and optional raw market data as a structured JSON object to the terminal or a file.

pinets Setup

# Install the pinets-cli globally using npm
npm install -g pinets-cli

# Alternatively, run it directly without installation using npx
npx pinets-cli run indicator.pine --symbol BTCUSDT -q

# Verify the installation
pinets --version

pinets Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill produces and consumes data in specific JSON formats to ensure compatibility across Openclaw Skills integrations:

Object Description
indicator Contains the metadata of the script, including the title and overlay status.
plots A map of calculated values, indexed by plot name, containing millisecond timestamps and numeric values.
marketData (Full format only) The OHLCV candle data used for the calculation.
result (Full format only) The raw return values for every bar processed.

For custom data input, the tool requires an array of objects containing open, high, low, close, and volume fields.

pinets Advanced Features

  • Support for custom warmup periods to initialize indicators with long lookback requirements like SMA 200.
  • Data cleaning options using the --clean flag to filter out null or false results for signal-based scripts.
  • Selection of specific plots using the --plots flag to reduce output noise and focus on relevant data.
  • Full execution context mode providing the complete environment state including market data and raw results.
  • Seamless integration with stdin, allowing Openclaw Skills to dynamically generate and execute Pine Script logic.
