What is PingHarbor?

The PingHarbor skill for Openclaw Skills enables developers to integrate professional-grade monitoring into their AI agent workflows. It provides a direct interface to the PingHarbor API, allowing for real-time status checks, automated monitor creation, and detailed SLA reporting.

By leveraging this integration within the ecosystem of Openclaw Skills, users can bridge the gap between their development environment and their production infrastructure monitoring. This ensures that uptime and reliability are always at the forefront of the development lifecycle, allowing for faster response times to outages and better visibility into system performance.

PingHarbor Use Cases

  • Monitoring website uptime and response times through automated checks.
  • Tracking background tasks and cron jobs via heartbeat monitors to ensure reliability.
  • Generating and reviewing SLA reports for performance auditing and client reporting.
  • Programmatically creating and grouping monitors for new project deployments via Openclaw Skills.
  • Investigating recent downtime events and incident histories to improve system resilience.

How PingHarbor Works

  1. The AI agent authenticates with PingHarbor using a secure API key provided via environment variables.
  2. The user issues a natural language command to check status or manage resources.
  3. Openclaw Skills maps the request to specific PingHarbor tools like list_monitors or get_incidents.
  4. The MCP server executes the request against the PingHarbor API and returns structured monitoring data.
  5. The agent synthesizes the data to provide actionable insights or confirm successful configuration changes.

PingHarbor Setup

First, generate an API key in your PingHarbor dashboard under Administration -> API Keys. Then, configure your environment:

export PINGHARBOR_API_KEY=ph_your_api_key_here

Finally, update your ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json file to include the skill:

{
  "skills": {
    "entries": {
      "pingharbor": {
        "enabled": true,
        "env": {
          "PINGHARBOR_API_KEY": "ph_your_api_key_here"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}
