What is PomoClaw?

PomoClaw is a specialized macOS application that resides in the menu bar, providing a minimal yet powerful Pomodoro timer. This skill allows users to manage their focus intervals through simple URL schemes, making it an ideal companion for Openclaw Skills. By integrating this timer, developers can enable their AI agents to programmatically control work sessions, breaks, and configuration settings without manual intervention, fostering a more disciplined and automated workflow.

PomoClaw Use Cases

  • Initiating a focus timer when an agent starts a complex development task.
  • Pausing or resuming work sessions through voice or text commands within Openclaw Skills.
  • Monitoring focus stats and automatically logging completed pomodoros.
  • Customizing work and break durations based on the user's daily schedule.

How PomoClaw Works

  1. The AI agent executes a bash command via the Mac node to interact with the PomoClaw URL protocol.
  2. Commands like start, pause, or stop are sent directly to the application using the open command.
  3. The application updates its internal state and visual UI in the macOS menu bar immediately.
  4. When requested, the status command outputs the current timer data to a local JSON file in the user directory.
  5. Openclaw Skills can then read this file to provide real-time updates or feedback on the session progress.

PomoClaw Setup

Download the application from the official GitHub repository and move it to your Applications folder. Ensure the app is running as it operates as a menu bar item without a dock icon. To integrate with Openclaw Skills, use the following bash command structure:

bash -c "open 'pomoclaw://start?minutes=25'"

PomoClaw Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill utilizes a JSON file located at ~/.pomoclaw/status.json to communicate state.

Property Type Description
state string The current timer state: running, paused, or idle
mode string The active mode: work, break, break_ready, or idle
remaining integer Remaining time in seconds
total integer Total duration of the session in seconds
completedCount integer Number of pomodoros finished in the current session

PomoClaw Advanced Features

  • Configurable alert sounds including options like Glass, Purr, and Sosumi.
  • Automatic long break intervals triggered every fourth pomodoro completed.
  • Flexible duration settings for work, short breaks, and long breaks via Openclaw Skills parameters.
