What is PR Review?

The PR Review skill is a specialized utility designed for Openclaw Skills to streamline the software development lifecycle by catching errors early. It performs deep, context-aware analysis of code changes using a single-pass review process, eliminating the overhead of multi-agent orchestration while maintaining high thoroughness. This skill is specifically built to bridge the gap between local development and formal peer review, ensuring that only high-quality, secure code is submitted to the repository.

By leveraging the capabilities of Openclaw Skills, this tool doesn't just point out problems—it actively resolves them. It evaluates code against five key dimensions: correctness, security, reliability, performance, and quality. Whether you are reviewing a small feature branch or auditing a massive legacy codebase, this skill provides actionable insights and automated patches that align with your project's specific coding standards and technical stack.

PR Review Use Cases

  • Reviewing local branch changes against the main or master branch before publishing a PR.
  • Auditing specific directories or modules for latent security vulnerabilities and logic flaws.
  • Performing comprehensive codebase audits with smart prioritization for large-scale refactors.
  • Automating the detection and fixing of resource leaks, race conditions, and injection risks.

How PR Review Works

  1. Determines the operational mode (Diff vs. Audit) by checking git status or user-provided path arguments.
  2. Gathers project-specific context by scanning configuration files such as package.json, tsconfig.json, and project guidelines like CLAUDE.md.
  3. Conducts a single-pass review of the target code, prioritizing correctness and security over minor style issues.
  4. Assigns a confidence score and classification (blocker, important, or minor) to every identified issue.
  5. Executes automatic code fixes for issues meeting the high-confidence threshold (>= 70 in Diff mode; >= 80 in Audit mode).
  6. Produces a final report summarizing risks, verdicts, and a list of applied or suggested modifications.

PR Review Setup

The PR Review skill requires git to be installed on your system. It is natively integrated into the environment for Openclaw Skills. You can trigger the review process using the following commands:

# Review current branch changes
/pr-review

# Audit a specific directory
/pr-review src/api/

# Run a full codebase audit
/pr-review --audit

PR Review Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes its analysis using a structured scoring and classification system to ensure accuracy within Openclaw Skills:

Attribute Description
Mode Diff (changed files) or Audit (specified files/patterns).
Classification Issues are tagged as blocker, important, or minor based on impact.
Scoring 0-100 scale; scores >= 70 trigger auto-fixes in Diff mode.
Exclusions Automatically ignores node_modules, dist, .git, and build directories.
Context Sources Scans .eslintrc, .prettierrc, and biome.json to match project style.

PR Review Advanced Features

  • Contextual awareness that prioritizes project-specific guidelines over generic linting rules.
  • Intelligent auto-fixing that preserves surrounding code integrity and style patterns.
  • Smart scope resolution for large repositories to prevent token waste and focus on relevant files.
  • High-precision security auditing for common vulnerabilities like SQL injection and XSS.
  • Direct integration with git to provide immediate feedback on modified files and logic changes.
